I know it's been sometime since I've uploaded some music, but it's a new year and I have a lot of things I plan to upload for everyone to enjoy, so I thought I'd start with the beautiful voice of Anita Carter

I'm with you Andrew. Sadly, I never knew there was an Anita Carter; I was always focused on June Carter Cash. Now, I know there is more; much more!

I suspect the only reason that she wasn't a superstar is that she was too wise. I think it was her choice. I greatly respect her for it.

That in itself makes her a superstar in my eyes. Her voice is incomparable, A great among greats!

Anita was in a class by herself a super star just some selections did not flatter her voice but boy when she hit it there was nothing to compare to. Thank you who ever for this music.

I am an opera singer (not world class but not too shabby either) and mostly only listen to classical/operatic voices. However, one of my favorite voices from of any genre belongs to Anita Carter....pure raw natural talent. I wish I could have heard her vocalize because her registers blend perfectly and I'd love to know if she knew how she did it or if it just came naturally.

I feel the same about Judith Durham. You should listen to her! Lead singer of The Seekers, a 1960s group from Australia.

ok, I'm 56, and I also never heard about Anita Carter.... here in Austria we know "only" Johnny Cash (its ok), but who knows in "good old europe" a Carter family/sisters? youtube bring me to this great and impression music. This time, October 2011 I heard about Anita, and its really a wounderful and extraordinary experience. I hope more Austrian and European people learn to know more about Anita and the Carter Sisters! especially Anita!!!!

It's unfortunate Anita Carter never got the acolaides of a great singing voice she had and she perhaps may had bene the most versitile vocalist of the Carter Family and she could sing just about everyhting from pop, folk, & country. This song is a good example of that and she did such a nice rendition of that Elton John/Bernie Taupin tune.

I would like to solve the mystery of why this voice was not out there..It could not be underated if it was heard.

@singasonglorriegirl I'm a rocker at heart, but I really loved her voice and how she carried herself. Mother Carter surely had something to do with that.

This is pretty great ... I wonder what Anita could have done had she gotten hold of, say, Some classic Burt Bacharach tunes. I think she could definitely done some other styles besides country. Not that I don't love her country Stuff.. I DO !!

She did a lot of folk stuff, especially in 1962, you should check it out. My favourite is a song she wrote called As The Sparrow Goes, it's not only my favourite song from her but also my favourite song of all time, and for good reason.

She also did some pop music as well.

She had Rheumatoid Arthritis when the not meds available ultimately ravaged her internal organs. It sure is sad.

What was the last CD she recorded before her death?

I'm waiting for my copy of Together Again by the Carter Family to arrive from Amazonwhich I think was recorded in 1991. She features on Clinch Mountain Memories from 1993 but I can't locate a copy of that or The Helen Carter Collection which incorporates that album
