Angelina Jordan (born Angelina Jordan. Astar on 10 January 2006) is a Norwegian child singer, of Iranian ancestry, whose audition for the 2014 season of Norway's Got Talent at the age of seven, singing "Gloomy Sunday" in the style of Billie Holiday, became a viral video online, and led to worldwide press coverage.[1][2] She went on to win the competition (at eight) with her performance of George Gershwin's "Summertime". Since then she has worked to raise millions of dollars on behalf of environmental causes and children's charities around the world. She always performs barefoot, after befriending a young shoeless girl while traveling when she was six years old. Jordan wrote a book about the experience and became the youngest published author in Norway. After Jordan's performances of two Billie Holiday songs, "Gloomy Sunday" and "I'm a Fool to Want You", on Norway's Got Talent, as well as "Fly Me to the Moon" on a TV talk show, all went viral online in March 2014, she was featured in Time,[1] Daily Mirror,[2] People,[5] and other news outlets around the world.[6] She continued in the competition singing Nancy Sinatra's version of "Bang Bang (My Baby Shot Me Down)" live in the semifinals,[7] and won with her performance of George Gershwin's "Summertime", in the style of Ella Fitzgerald and Louis Armstrong's 1958 recording of the song. In September 2014, she performed "Fly Me to the Moon" on the US television show The View,[8] bringing her wider fame in the United States. She also performed on several TV 2 programs in Norway over the next few years, including multiple appearances on Allsang på Grensen (Singalong at the Border, referring to the border fortress of Fredriksten where outdoor concerts are held) and on TV4 in Sweden. Jordan had a small guest role in the final episode of the Netflix series Lilyhammer, playing a girl who sings in a bar.[9] In December 2014, she realized a personal ambition by performing for Peace Prize recipients Malala Yousafzai and Kailash Satyarthi at the Nobel Peace Prize Concert.[10] Jordan's recording debut, the three-song maxi-single My Christmas, was released in December 2014.[11] To support the release, Jordan performed the songs on multiple TV shows, including an appearance on Christmas Day. 2015-2019: KZbin channels, The EP, It's Magic Edit In 2015, Jordan began recording music that would eventually be collected on the six-song Angelina Jordan - The EP, released on 27 November 2017.[12] Many of the tracks were posted to her official KZbin channel[13] well in advance of the EP release, in the form of music videos and lyric videos. These included her covers of Screamin' Jay Hawkins' "I Put a Spell on You", the music video for which was directed by Per Heimly, and Amy Winehouse's "Back to Black", in which Jordan sang her own original lyrics. These two music videos became the most popular videos on her official KZbin channel, surpassing 5 million views each by 2020. In 2017, she created a second KZbin channel specifically to present performances of cover songs.[14] In November 2015, Jordan published the book Mellom to hjerter (Between Two Hearts), illustrated by her grandmother, Iranian artist Mery Zamani.[15] The book tells the story of her meeting a poor motherless girl in Asia who has no shoes. After a long conversation in which they discuss their dreams in life, she gives the girl her shoes and the girl promises to pray for Jordan to fulfill her dream to become a successful singer. According to Jordan the book is based on a real incident which she cites as the reason for always performing barefoot.[16] In April 2016, Jordan performed "Fly Me to the Moon" on the first season of the noncompetitive children's talent show Little Big Shots.[17] A year later she performed "What a Difference a Day Makes" on the UK version of the show. She also performed "I Put a Spell on You" on the German edition of the show, Little Big Stars, in 2017. In December 2016, she performed on Alan Walker is Heading Home, a live concert broadcast from Bergen, Norway, where she sang Walker's songs "Sing Me to Sleep" and "Faded".[18] On 15 June 2018, a full album of recordings with Staff Band of the Norwegian Armed Forces (Forsvarets stabsmusikkorps), called It's Magic, was released.[19] The next day, Jordan and the band performed the full album live in a concert attended by Norway's Prime Minister. On 27 June 2018, Jordan performed "Fly Me to the Moon" for Quincy Jones in The O2 Arena in London, as part of his 85th birthday celebration, and also joined with other singers to perform "Man in the Mirror" to close the show.[20][21] 2019-2020: America's Got Talent, "Bohemian Rhapsody", and Republic Records Edit In 2019, Jordan performed for former president Barack Obama and other public figures at the Brilliant Minds conference in Stockholm. In October 2019, she competed in the second season of America's Got Talent: The Champions, which was aired in January and February 2020.[22] Her first appearance on the show, singing an original arrangement of Queen's "Bohemian Rhapsody", received a "golden buzzer" from judge Heidi Klum (meaning that Jordan would pass directly into the finals). As with her Norway's Got Talent audition six years earlier, a video of Jordan's performance began to go viral on KZbin, quickly reaching 10 million views.[23] The performance also garnered praise from Queen's official Twitter account.[24] Shortly afterwards, the video was taken down[23] and Jordan released a studio version of the same arrangement under her own copyright.[25] Jordan's second performance (in the finals), a similarly reworked "Goodbye Yellow Brick Road" based largely on a version by Sara Bareilles, was also well received, but she was not among the top 5 acts. I first watched Angelina when she was 7 yo and was swept away! She was on a talent show.

Chris, Angelina has actually been singing since she was one and a half! She has many videos out there and there are only a few that aren't superior, only because of the sound quality. She sings live in concert, in studio , outdoors and in her living room. Many of her videos are arranged ,edited,produced and recorded by her ! She also has three original songs , Shield- What is Life and Oslo. Angelina makes every cover her own and doesn't ever try to sound like anybody but herself! She just turned 13 in January and her parents are very supportive but keep her grounded and humble, they insist that her education is the most important thing for her right now. She gets hundreds of requests to do appearances and her parents reject about 90 percent of them right now! I agree with the people below about every suggestion for you to react to, however if you really want to see her range watch I Put a Spell on you and then watch her cover of Etta James Every Time we say Goodbye! I have heard many artists cover I Put a Spell on you including Beth Hart, Nina Simone even the original by Screamin Jay Hawkins and none of them even come close to what she does with this song it's Grammy worthy in my opinion! Her Grandma would also play Jazz when she was 1-2 yrs old. - Angelina always sings barefoot..... When Angelina was 6, she was traveling with her grandmother and met a poor girl with no shoes trying to make money on the streets. The girl complimented her on her pretty shoes, so Angelina took them off and gave them to the girl. She made a vow to always sing barefoot until all the children of the world could have shoes. To this day, whenever Angelina is performing in public, she sings barefoot to remind us that there are less fortunate people in the world that could use our help. There's more to the story & it's more touching. When Angelina was 9 years old she wrote a book about the story that can be purchased on her website. (angelinajordanofficial) - She has always been the driving force behind her own singing career. It was her that asked her mother to take her to Norways Got Talent, where she auditioned at 7 years old and went won. - In an interview after the show, when asked what she was going to do with the prize money, she said, "I would like to give it to orphans that need clothes and shoes" - The reason you may not have heard of her is because her parents are very protective of her childhood. They do not want her to be thrust into stardom before she has a chance to grow up as a normal child, and finish her education. They allow her to do a few select shows (mainly private and charity events) with a couple public shows every year when she is out of school. Her mother said in an interview that they have turned down 90% of the offers that come in. I have heard they have turned down offers from many major record labels and even disney. - Angelina has covered around 170+ songs, over the last 6 years. Quincy Jones, Mark Ronson, David Foster, and many more. All of which heard her covering their songs and were blown away by her talent. When Queen heard her own version of Bohemian Rhapsody where blowin away when she was on AGT 2020. - Angelina has written three of her own original songs: "What is Life", "Shield" and "Oslo". She touched us all when she appeared. The tears raged in many adult people. It was pure magic. Who could think that the young girl who was 6 years old when she appeared in the competition once in white dress, small-haired hair and without shoes could have a voice that she already had then. And look at her now. Has performed all over the world long before she became a teenager. And recently she has released her own music, an EP. And she only scores high on it among the peaks that "control" the musicworld today. Produktions Company, and from a lot of the best and And from other well-known, well-established musicians, and a lot of the well-known and highly acclaimed bands.. iIt will be exciting to follow her. She has just barely started her music care er. She will reach far. She captivates everyone when she sings 💖💖💖💖

This child is one of the best singers on the planet right now and she just turned 13 in January. My first reaction was similar to yours so I had to find one where she did not use a microphone. It's incredible! I find these kind of videos TOTALLY DUMB. People with no talent at all exploit these young artists with genuine gifts by showing their own face and monkey mimics in the foreground as if the world needs to admire clowns over the real talent. It is totally stupid. I wonder what Angelina Jordan would think about this exploitation of her songs by these self made judges. In my humble opinion, it is a total lack of respect towards this young artist. BIG thumb down to you too.

From all the vocal coaches I’ve seen reacting to Angelina you’re the only one that have mentioned one very distinctive trait of her interpretation: the way she pronounces the vowels. She’s able to say every single syllable and still keep up ritme and pitch.

Kevin Neal Everyone loves this version Angelina sings. There is another one where the acoustics truly stand out and it is the song STAY. She also does Always on my mind which she does without a microphone and just a guitar as back up. She does though many acoustic videos which are fantastic.
