The 'explaining how to do a thing' voice and word choice is kind of iconic to her channel at this point. Its just part of her brand. She makes it clear enough when she's showing things that *shouldn't* be followed, so there's no reason *not* to do it and changing her style could alienate people who've come to associate that tone with her content. It could also be argued that she's giving the precise descriptions for the large contingent of people these days who like to do something else and just listen to videos.

I ran a lot of DnD games for a while. I remember having a moment at work when someone commented that I had "narrator voice". It caught me off guard when I realized I had been using the same voice to describe a work anecdote the way I might describe the events of a fantastic adventure.

Isn't this the speech pattern of a scientist? Just shifted from impersonal " the cookies were added into the vessel" to instructive "add the crushed cookies to the vessel" like she is instructing us in how to replicate an experiment to see for ourselves that it works/she isn't cheating or manipulating things off screen. Like a form of scientific, empiric/inductive proof. She is a very skeptical and safety/education oriented food scientst (and mom) so that tone is expected. It kinda fits with her whole debunking videos thing too, where she tries their instructions for herself to "replicate the experiment" and prove it doesn't work.

yeah lol that immediately jumped into my head as well. I feel like in her case it does make more sense though because even if you're not gonna recreate the whole thing, if you do wanna customize a doll and want to do something more out there like giving the doll deer legs or whatever, then I'm sure being able to watch that specific part of the video in tutorial format is a huge help

reminds me of a math teacher i once had. often when teaching a lesson she would pause before delivering the final word(s) in sentences, presumably to give her students the chance to answer the question or finish the thought aloud themselves. except the habit extended beyond when she was actively teaching- she frequently paused near the end of her sentences in more casual conversation with both students and adults. at some point it just became a permanent quirk of her speech pattern

I would imagine that it's something that has naturally become part of her language. Personally, at one point or another, I started putting a lot of effort into my word choice to give it a mix of flowery and professional. But now, unless I am consciously thinking over each and every one of the words that I type out onto the screen or spew out as verbiage, it is a now ever-present part of my communication.

Ann Reardon is certainly not the only person interested in miniature things. Sure, she might be the only person cooking in miniature, but for those that are interested in learning how to do that, Ann is there for them. The reality of this world of now 8 billion people is that if you're interested in something, no matter how weird and obscure that interest may be, someone else is also. That person may be on the other side of the planet, but they exist. If Ann didn't make all her videos in a how to manner like she does, she would get bombarded by people asking her how she does it, so she's just one step ahead of that. It may be seen by some such as yourself as weird and unusual, but it's really just very clever, intelligent and creative - and Ann Reardon has truckloads of those traits available to share.
