I agree that this should definately be re-isssued and placed on a great DVD for all of us to enjoy! This is truly quite wonderful. Mr. Bergonzi is wonderful! What an exciting duo! I'd love to have this on CD or better yet on DVD! Thank you latraviata 1853! Oh I do love this! Both voices, strong, fresh and ALIVE!!!

We should petition RCA to reissue this. So wonderful! Only time I've heard the cadenza in this duet sung in a studio recording. Divine, especially with the parts flipped.

I've been looking for this for so long. I only have it on LP. I'm thrilled to finally find it on KZbin. Anna Moffo is by far the most underrated lyric/coloratura soprano of our time. If Sutherland had not appear at the Met in 1961, I believe Moffo would have reign as the top coloratura of the 1960's. She had it all, beautiful voice, technique, fantastic high notes up to an F in alt. And what about her amazing physical beauty. She's drop dead gorgeous! Fine actress. E flat at the end of duet.

Oh, I don't think there could be any possible comparison between Sutherland's voice and technique and Moffo's. I adore her Lucia and some other roles, she's incredibly dramatic and gives an awesome vocal performance, but it was so beyond her actual capacities that it lasted very little.

Yes, she sings the Eb and he sings the high C. Wonderful.

That Moffo's high note is awesome. Donizetti wrote the high note there for the tenor, but as tenors were usually not able to sing it, in some recordings no one did it, in others the singers interchanged their notes or adapted the part some way. I find it quite boring when no one goes up, and I adore Moffo's way of taking charge of the question. Brava!

A piece of trivia........I only ever heard these artists once in their careers. Moffo early in hers (Early 60's) and Bergonzi late in his (1981) but by a quirk of fate both occassions were in the same theatre... The Grand Opera House in Belfast Northern Ireland.

Purtroppo la Moffo era troppo bella, e questo ha fatto passare fatalmente in secondo piano una delle voci più intense e commoventi di quell'epoca.
