Hey Anna and Pavel, I love your videos because of the highly informative nature of each, but also because of the enthusiasm you both have for beekeeping! Because of my desire to learn as much as possible from your videos (I'm an aspiring beekeeper, currently living in Central Wyoming, USA, but shall shortly put my house up for sale, so I can relocate to Central Alaska, USA!, where I will finally embark upon my lifelong desire to keep bees!), I am PLEADING with you to PLEASE purchase Lapel Microphones that you can run a line to your video recorder, so your audio presentations are more easily heard! Right now your commentaries sound as if you are speaking from the FAR end of a tunnel, and it is at times VERY difficult to hear what you are saying. Basic Lapel microphones are not expensive, and do a GREAT job, so there is NO need to spend a lot of money. Thank you again for taking the time to make a superb video; providing us all with valuable information, that can have a constructive impact on our ability to properly keep bees. Cheers from the Oil Patch in Central WY, USA!

We have two single deep hive bodies that are without a laying queen. They are both pretty full of bees. We bought two packages of bees and when we got home from the big city where it was a nice day there was a sleet storm as my husband attempted to install them into their perspective hives one of the queens flew off and he never found her. The other queen, Abigail, was a wonderful layer but he accidentally killed her while trying to mark her. The other hive was able to make a new queen and she did her mating flight but it seems that she did not get mated. "She may look a bit bigger", my husband said today, but he cannot see any eggs or larvae. Also, the hive that had the wonderful laying queen, apparently couldn't make a new queen b/c there are no eggs or larvae young enough. It's been since June 12 that she, Abigail, was killed yet this hive has not made any new queen cells. What to do?
@AnnaKra5 жыл бұрын
Sometimes it takes more than one mating flight before she starts laying. Give it some time. As far as the queenless hive and no queen cells, because so much time has passed the best thing to do is to buy a queen. I hope this helps! Thank you for watching.

Thanks for your informative videos. I wish l had seen this a month ago and l may have saved my colony. I tried putting a frame of brood and eggs so they could make a new queen but they didn't and died out. 1. I noticed the way pavel did it the bees come to life from being lazy on frames when introducing queen. 2. The queen will go straight to work laying 1,000's of eggs which will make colony strong again quickly. Were what l did would be a long progress by the time they make queen then 16 days to hatch and then the mating cycle before the 1st egg gets layed. Like me l lost my colony and with in days Pavel colony are building. 3. Did Pavel let large colony make new queen or did he replace her? You probably said but l missed it. Thanks again and keep up the Great work Sean

I am lucky as in Australia we don't have varroa mites but l just watch your video about thyme and coconut milk which l will remember just in case one day we end up with them. I also don't agree with chemical's as l feel that is why our cancer rates have increased due to the way our food in grown today. Natural is Best!!!

Hello Anna, Could you please ask your dad why my bees are not making much honey this year, I have just lower box full, but top one are empty, they made some, but they eat it Thank you
@AnnaKra5 жыл бұрын
There could be many reasons for that. It's hard to answer that question not knowing all the details. How many beehives do you have and did you start this year?
@DERONIYA5 жыл бұрын
@@AnnaKra I have 2 hives, both have 2 boxes one down and second top, I did check both of them, they have honey on the bottom one but nothing on the top ones, I stated on May this year, last year I had just one hive and I got like 70 pounds but last year I stated late at the end of june,
@AnnaKra5 жыл бұрын
@@DERONIYA First year I wouldn't expect honey. The first year they need honey to grow. It also depends on the location and how much nectar you have around. Also, the weather can affect how much honey they bring each year, especially during the springtime (most nectar flow). If it's raining more than normal during springtime, the bees cannot fly in the rain and cannot bring honey. My dad recommends caging the queen next year during springtime to get more honey. Check out our video about caging queen on our channel. Right now, some beekeepers feed their bees because during summertime the nectar flow drops. It's not a good idea to extract honey right now, the bees need to save some honey to survive the winter, you may even want to feed them a little bit, to make sure they have enough to survive the winter. It's also possible that your hive swarmed out, but you didn't notice it because the new bees came out and the population will look about the same. When half of the bees leave they take a lot of honey with themselves. Hope this helps. Great question.
@AnnaKra5 жыл бұрын
Caging the queen technique is recommended to do during springtime.
@AnnaKra5 жыл бұрын
My dad recommends feeding them during summertime for about 7 days and before winter for about 7 days. If they are not taking the feed then you don't have to feed them. This will give them a strong start. The easiest and cheapest way to feed them is with sugar syrup. Sugar and water 1:1 ratio. I show you how to feed them in this video towards the end of the video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pHzalJalms2jicU If you would like to know how we make this feeder, just let me know.

Papa you don't make that move with the queen.Get more classes in USA
@AnnaKra5 жыл бұрын
We have gotten classes in USA, and are aware of other methods but also study different methods from different countries. We love this method the best because we had a higher success rate with it compared to other methods. Plus if they accept the queen right away we save a lot of time!

When, you do ,that ,the way he did it ,you have to spray with solution of esential oil of piperment ,all the frames inside of the box so everything has the same smells,then the bees can not tell if is a new queen,so they do not mess wit her.Also the esential oil make them calm.

@@geanitsucuneli4791 We don't use essential oils, this works just fine without it. You don't have to. It's a preference thing and how much experience you have in certain situations.

I have 2000 hives full size,and over 500 nucs .I got no time to babysitting them ,comercial migratory grade.

@@geanitsucuneli4791 We don't really believe commercial style beekeeping. Those bees are easily neglected, they use chemicals to treat their bees, which weakens the colonies and makes them more dependent on chemicals and we don't support that. If you have so many hives how come you have an anonymous picture and only 4 subscribers? It's hard to believe you are who you say you are. I don't appreciate you putting us down with no solid evidence just because you don't like our style.

A hive with no queen I hear will develop a laying worker in 3 weeks. As a laying worker can only lay drone eggs a queen cant be produced. Introduction of a queen to a hive with a laying worker can be ruff. I get it . I just love the choice of words that make me feel like it’s the right path. And the view from it is wonderful. .......PS rude bee.
