Im in the US, and i have a 99 gs400. Im looking for a standalone that can still control my vvti. I really only need the basic functions. Id just like to have some tuneability and clean up my engine bay. Im not looking to make big power. What would you recommend i go with?

Hey Travis a lot will depend on what Gearbox you are going to use. If you are staying auto then the amount of ECU's that can control an Automatic Gearbox is limited. VVT-i control is pretty basic now with most Aftermarket ECU's so you won't find many that do not control VVT-i. Your bigger challenge is the Drive By Wire on the 1UZ-FE VVT-i. Removing the Drive By Wire is not possible if you want to retain the Auto Gearbox and the standard ECU with a Piggy Back ECU. We don't work with Piggyback setups so we cannot advise on that side of things. Remember that a Standalone ECU can be used on pretty much any car and any engine within reason. So purchasing one that you can use in the future for your other vehicles is the way to go. That way you the amount that you spend seems more reasonable.

@@PhoenixEngineManagement I'm gonna keep the a650e auto and maybe just shim the accumulators, bump up the line pressure, and add a cooler. And, my car is cable throttle. Will I have to use the DBW setup from a 3uz or something?
