so happy to know you’re learning Indonesian! (that’s my first language!) what i like about the language is that you don’t really have to say complete sentences in order for it to make sense, us Indonesians aren’t very formal with our language lol. semangat!!

I love these language learning videos! It really motivates me to practice the languages I learn. I learn Spanish, Italian, German, Ukrainian, and Norwegian, as well as dabbling in BSL, Dutch, and French. There are also SOOO many other languages I'd like to learn, such as Egyptian Arabic, Catalan, Portuguese, Greek, Hebrew, and Romainian. I agree with other commenters that these videos also help us to not feel bad for trying to learn lots of languages at the same time!

Your videos on this topic bring me back to your old room in Ireland and then to all the countries you lived in and the languages that you learn. And it brings me so much joy that I've been with you (virtually) on this journey, that I learned many things from you and that we are both growing and discovering our paths! Extensive listening is also really good for learning and maintaining languages... Polyglot Beats here on youtube is great for bilingual stories where they read one sentence in English, then re-read the same in target language (their playlist section has over 20 languages)... I listen while walking and driving - you need to get the language in you!! The more exposure the better😊😊 great channel.

If you are interested in learning new letters or scripts i recommend languages that are written in Devanagari script like hindi and Sanskrit. It is difficult but i believe that it will be a good challenge for you because it is soo different from all the languages mentioned in this video.

Hi Anna, I wanted to know if you could make a video specifically about how to learn a language you already know from childhood but speak incorrectly. If I remember correctly, this is your case with Russian. I have the same "problem" with Romanian - I can have conversations but my grammar is wonky and I sometimes lack very basic vocabulary or confuse basic words 😅

I came here because I want to learn Thai as well, but as a Spanish (Latin America) speaker, I find it interesting and even funny that you would never use ojalá. In fact, in this region, it's a very common word. We rarely use espero que sí or similar ones because, for us, those expressions sound formal.
@fransfs65945 күн бұрын
It actually depends in the case of “Claro que si” or “desde luego” if someone is from latinamerica there are more chances that they will use the first one

I can recommend 3 resources that I used together to learn the Thai script: a free Android app called Pocket Thai Master, an online course on Udemy called Learn to Read Thai, Taught by an American Guy ($12, worth every penny) and the book Read Thai in 10 Days by Bingo (the director of the school you'll be attending, BTW). I'm halfway studying Thai, because the script is just so cool looking to me, I only want to know how to read it. But the languages I seriously want to know fluently because I think they're beautiful all around are Swahili, Indonesian, (southern dialect) Vietnamese, (Brazilian) Portuguese, and (Mexican) Spanish. Specified "Mexican" instead of "Latin American" because Argentina is weird. XD

@@celescalice It's actually one of the easiest accents for me to understand. I just don't like the distinct way you guys pronounce "y" and "ll". It's also not very diverse compared to the rest of LA, and finding out that the reason is intentional didn't make my feelings about it any better. So Argentina and Spain just get a "no" from me.
