Hi Anna !! Have fun and see you. Sure, the Mercedes-Benz GLE 300d looks nice BUT from the back. Because you have put chrome strip around the front window and the rear window BUT not the rear window which is also visible from the side. It looks like you either forgot to put in the chrome strip or you lost. At least for me it bothers a lot when I want to see harmony in lines and then the chrome strips. I enjoyed this review more than I expected, you're really funny as well. On a side note, here in South Africa, many companies that offer Car Allowance to their employees only allow them to buy a car with an engine that has no more than 2 litres. I don't know how it is in other countries. So this car makes sense for those people

In Europe, if you get a car allowance, there are no restrictions usually, but then again, it can differ from company to company. Switzerland is still pretty flexible, I think Germany is getting a little too political in this area. But usually in Switzerland, you would have to be a CEO level to afford even this 2L GLE.

Thank you for a nice, entertaining and objective rewiew as always! I think Mercedes have taken the "led plank" instrument panel too far. It look not so expensive and solid as I prefer from Mercedes. It looks fragile and like you could take it with your hands at both ends and rip it off easily. I would rather prefer traditional round analogue gauges with white letters on black more deeply set into the instrument panel, old Benz style. Good looking SUV, big but not heavy set, it looks light on its feet. I think the buyers will be older over fifty years old typically, and the power from this engine will be more than enough, Cheers.

Personally, I would also prefer a more understated look, I think brown would look lovely as well. But if you go brown, you must go simple. I'd say so, regarding the power, over 50 or perhaps not that into driving dynamics

After doing 17500 km, today my GLE 300d engine did not start. It power on, but engine is not getting on ? Where is the problem. Dashboard shows all equipmets in red? Service is due in 2 days.

The good thing with your videos, Anna ,is that when I am not fascinated by the cars you drive, I can focus on.. the driver. As a result, it's never boring. And, hmm, how can I put it for this GLE ? Well, I looked a lot at you :P (hey, you see? A frenchman can be polite and understated!).. OK, now the real "me" speaking: I find those SUV utterly between two chairs: They are not good at off-road vehicles (like they used to be: an 1997 ML would probably put this GLE to shame) and if it's to stay on asphalte, then what's the point of having something heavier, higher (which means more roll and less dynamics)? The real reason is (as you stated in the first seconds of your video) : To appear rich. I know that a lot of people buy cars as a social status symbol. But we, petrolheads, buy cars that make our hearts beat faster (or rather the piston and valves that we have at the place of the heart). OK, one could argue that some petrolheads have their heart beat faster with SUV.. why not? all tastes are acceptable. But mine doens't. Sorry. If were to live in a place that has really bad roads, I would get a "real" off-road car (likely a Nissan Terrano or a Toyota LandCruiser, or, if I have the money, a Range Rover or a Mercedes GL). But those SUVs, for me, are, as they say in Portugal : "Nem carne, nem peixe" (Neither meat nor fish)

Don’t know what car you tested, I bought the same vehicle, same color because it outperformed the2016 6 cylinder Gle it replaces in every manner. It’s just awesome in every way. Quieter, peppier, overtaking is a piece of cake, it handles very well, it’s just an amazing machine to drive. Something must be wrong with the one you test drove.

@Ramsay Bolton. How is the engine. I have ordered the 300d also. Does it have enough power to accelerate (G-Forces available?) How is the stroke. What about noises in comparison with 350d. It is comfortable for driving on motorways. Thanks for answering in advanced. :-)

@@erschadm Great question. The engine is peppier than the 350d, no vibration in the steering wheel on idle. It has a tremendous amount of low end torque and hp, which can be monitored on the left screen, pretty cool. Overtaking is quite exhilarating. Gforce is available and can also be seen on the heads up display if you choose to display it. Noise wise, it is louder on the outside, but much quieter on the inside. However it’s a nice satisfying noise on the outside. If you can get the heads up display feature, you won’t be disappointed. Comfort wise, it’s a thing of beauty. The 20 in tires have a higher profile which gives it a smoother ride. I have the steel springs. You will want to leave your bed just to take it for a ride on the highway. Entertainment wise, there is nothing like it. If you leave your windows or roof open and it rains, it will close them and inform you by text, email.

My GLE300d just has arrived yesterday and I have to say: total agreement with your words. Great machine. No need of 6cylinder. Fuel consumption is awesome. Power is more than enough. I am sooo happy :-)

Here in Italy the governament since 2011 has started to hunt down on 3 liter engines and cars with over 252 ps ( lol ) . So cars with 2 liters and less than 252ps are always welcome . 3 liters are super rare here ( 😣 ) Anyway this car is made to be matched ith the 2.9 diesel , this is just a gimmik for Co2, and our bad laws :)

Most of the owner will be sitting in the back seat and enjoy the luxury ,so for them engine tiredness is not a big deal and I think that's the biggest difference between merc.and BMW SUVs.Its all about marketing
