Anyone else has a problem in actually keep updating these kind of productivity apps? Like my brain gets bored or overwhelmed after a while

yep. one thing that has *actually* been a life changer for me is accepting that due to my adhd, new is always the best, so i try not to be down on myself when a system stops working. i just move on and maybe one day ill get back into it. it sucks bc it makes you overwhelmed w the systems you have but it is what it is.

yeah same. i opnly could stick to onenote for the study notes and all other random notes for "google keep". also for productivity, i can stick to "fabolous" and "clarify adhd" and almost all google apps. google calendar and google tasks are my mind maps and are like to do's and all over my main page/and side page on my phone

@@tsuki3752 aaaa same! I used notion for a whole one year and it was perfect but then I started hating it out of nowhere and turn into google calendar, and sometimes when google calendar doesn't work I go back to notion for simple to-do lists and when those doesn't work I create a silly excel sheet where I organize projects and then repeat, just jumping through different apps. You will also find a whole project organized on paper from time to time lol. When I accepted this it actually got better! Tired of this app? don't push it, just jump to the one you feel like using that day haha

My Notion experience is similar to how ppl play new MMORPGs, 90% in the character customization and 10% actually playing. I spent so long learning how to make layouts and how embeds work on Notion and how to make really cute pages but never actually use it or update it properly

Notion is like excel sheets on steroids, it's based with databases. It is wonderful for everything related to databases but for scheduling... nop! And it's not because Notion is bad, it's because it's really not made for that 😊

i use it only for checklists from work. Like i have about 25 business and 7 things to check in each, and then i get distracted and my brain deletes all the things i did, but doing it twice is worse so.... checking each step on notion it is. For life and other thing i COULD NEVER. I forget to update it and when i don't forget to update it i forget i updated it and use a totally different method to go about my day.

@@ameliehp yeah but i AM using it to just track data, like reading lists, watch lists, quotes, articles, research papers, and habit trackers. but the thing is i never update them until like 2 months later and at that point I forgot most of what I wanted to keep track of in the first place. @@WesleyAnnamaybe instead of talking bad about Notion you could explain what it's actually made for and should be used for :) Notion is a really good and powerfull tool, really not made for time scheduling but amazing for other things. I always compare the app to excel sheets, but on steroids. Would we do to-do lists on excel? In 2024? No way 😂 So it doesn't seem logic to do it in Notion if you know what the app is made for. I am building Notion systems for professionnal use and it's with no surprise that I confirm that no task tracking is included in it. But it combines every excel sheets combined, supercharged, organized, with automations, status, etc. Easy to build? Not that much for most people. Easy to get lost in it? Omg yes. But bad? Worth being talked badly about? Certainly not. I just think it's sad that too many youtubers think it's good to talk about it as a task manager. They sell or give templates that will never be the right way to use Notion. It makes people waste time. Notion, the more it is pretty, the more it has widgets, the more it becomes cluttered and useless! As I said in an other comment.. I think I will try akiflow when I am done with my usemotion subscription, it seems nice :)

as someone with audhd, no organization app has been as useful for my brain as just a big bujo-style spreadsheet i designed and coded for myself. bit more work to setup, but it really allows you to customize to your needs and will never have additional features that you don't use & end up being distractions (as is inevitable with apps, which need to meet broad audience needs). xtiles interested me since it looks very similar to my sheet setup, just with more features. it would distract me as a daily organizer but i'm definitely gonna look into it as a board for writing/creative projects!

A lot of people, myself included, have ADD and not ADHD making it very hard to even try things. For me aesthetically pleasing apps help a lot because I actually want to go look at them. Switching to a mac helped a LOT more than I expected because the computer itself is lovely.
@VioletEmerald
@VioletEmerald 3 ай бұрын
They renamed it all to ADHD and i think ADHDers need things to be aesthetically pleasing. You don't fidget or talk fast or think in a lot of directions kinda in quick succession or anything remotely hyperactive? You have "inattentive type" ADHD maybe which idk what that does or doesn't mean in practice but. People don't really have ADD these days. It's all ADHD.

I love how you explained APIs as a "key given to developers" and made it feel like an approachable thing. It's impossible to live without relying on technology, but most of us don't actually know what goes into creating it. I would love if you could share "basic" information based on knowledge/skills you build in your career (e.g basic design principles, how to judge if a website/app/software was designed well as the user, technical background/capabilities everyone should understand at least a little bit, etc.)

ooo very interesting ideas here! we definitely take so much of tech for granted. @@WesleyAnna it could also just help raise awareness and appreciation for all the capabilities we have on our fav apps/systems now. I joined a prod mgmt ops team a few years go and it opened my eyes to how much labor and strategic planning is required for what users think are simple things (e.g the user research, market/industry analysis, the actual dev work, refinements, QA, etc just to know where to place a button, the label or icon assigned to it, and where it goes to)

Arc is Chromium-based. If you happen to already use a Firefox-based browser and don't want to install yet another browser, the Sideberry extention for Firefox-based browsers (which tend to be a little faster than Chrome these days) accomplishes much of the same things - Groups, separate work spaces, vertical tabs, etc. I have both, Arc, and Sideberry installed on Firefox.

Pd: Sadly I have windows 10 and Arc only supports windows 11 😭I dont want to update because theres still things that microsoft have to figure out for windows 11, oh well

I actually really like notion but thats bc ive really simplified how i use it to really only be a rolling weekly to do list with very minimal frills. Being able to have dedicated pages for projects linked within also really helps. Its easy to get overwhelmed and want to do too much with it at first though.

12:51 "If you are somebody who keeps a lot of tabs open on your computer and also in your brain" I felt seen because I have 50+ tabs (YES I counted them all) open on Chrome, not including the hidden groups on my bookmarks bar...

I dint think i had adhd i always thought im normal and i will be able to work hard like other people but when it comes to actually doing the tasks doing in the day i procrastinate even if i have enough motivation even if i want to do it willingly, i cant concentrate in simple tasks, after i got to know about adhd disorders everything started to make sense why things were the way they are for me. I wish i was normal.

Normal is boring, the trick is finding out how to make what makes you different into a good thing instead of trying to fit into someone else's "normal" box

An app I would suggest to give a try (at least) is mymind. It's kind of a second brain in which you throw in anything you want to collect and remember, and organize it for you. It have a nice interface and keeping things very simple. Only downside is the price...

Personally I use microsoft Edge as a browser bc of its side tabs layout, grouping is easy and they're saved when reopening the window, also I don't have to necessarily download files to view them which saves me time as I don't get distracted with searching the folder it will go to. I like the way I can write and highlight on pdf files. Honestly not overwhelming and gets the job done

Routinery has helped me a lot at different points in my life. There was a year I used it so frequently, I did have the membership. I currently don’t need it like that. So I don’t have the membership. But great to know it’s there when I really cannot function or need to use less brain power on daily tasks.

There's a firefox extension that does the same thing with putting your tabs to the left, it's called sideberry. You can create groups of tabs, different panels for tabs (that contain groups of tabs or single tabs) to split between different topics and so on

Support local small businesses-sort of thing 😊 But, I’m also extremely interested in your ADHD-friendly Notion deep dive (I must have missed your last video tbh, since I was on a social media cleanse, so this is the first time I’m hearing of it!), so take your time, love your content 😊

Notion can be SO fun to customize, but the friction is real! It's certainly not for everyone and there's nothing wrong with using multiple apps for different things, so don't feel bad if you want to give other tools a try. :)

I have been backpacking the last few months and I noticed (what is often dismissed in the ideal morning routine) your physical environment. I lived in a small town at home in Germany where I could easily run 5 K after work bc it’s a) safe and b) parc nearby In other parts of the world it’s either too unsafe or no close place nearby or it might get dark before you leave work etc. what I am saying is it’s not always possible to copy this „perfect morning routines“ from influencers on the other side of the world

Thank you so much for this video. Notion is so frustrating because its not intuitive to work with, and like you said, has its limits on basic conveniences you would expect on a planning app. I really want to love it and I understand that the interface is more "technical" due to its use of databases and formulas, but even learning to code is more intuitive than leaning to use notion. Some of the processes and limits on it just don't make sense. Anyways, i'm going to try these apps and if it doesn't work, i'll just have to keep using your notion videos to power through lol

I'm embarrassed to be saying this, and I promise I only use it on my work computer because i have no choice but... Edge has all of the features Arc does and has done for some time! Plus, the vertical tabs collapse when you're looking at pages, it has list collections of tabs, collections you can save, and split tabs is a quick button, and is fairly intuitive 🥲. Otherwise, I use Firefox on my all my personal devices for privacy reasons... but I do really miss those Edge features as the Firefox vertical tree sucks.

Routinery is interesting for me, I am a bullet journal person but I use weekly & monthly spreads- day to day stuff I can’t really track the same way. Just not the way my brain works- plus my schedule cannot be the same every day, my sleep issues don’t allow it, so I can’t use time to track things because I can’t go to bed or wake up the same time everyday.
