I watched for you to come across Marcelito. He, Morrissette, and Katrina Velarde are just some of the outstanding singers sitting down on the WISH Bus. The fans that follow me will give you more facts about this abandoned street kid who learned to impersonate pop artists, male AND female, to sing for a living, so I'll just toss in a few more facts; he is a Philippino whose native language is Filipina, yet he impersonated Celine's and Andrea's voices, in her French-tinged English and his Italian, amazingly. That funny thing he does after the song is his humble sense of humor - the Sound Engineers were teasing him about his "female" voice so he was "removing" it. He has a charming stage presence and does many duets - each time capturing female and male parts flawlessly. He has an incredible album of famous duets on his personal YT account in which he double records the male/female voices. That allows him to overlay the harmonies - with himself. This song "The Prayer", overlay recorded, is spectacular. Welcome to the World of Marcelito. Cheers.

Anna, Marcelito is an autodidact. He is untutored. Growing up poor and separated from his family, he did not have much in the way of education either. He took on odd jobs to support himself one of which was working in a chicken farm where he found solace in singing while minding the chickens. He entered Pilipinas Got Talent hoping through the TV exposure he would find his family. He went on to win the contest and was reunited with his family. In 2019, he took part in America’s Got Talent and finished 4th overall. One can only wonder, as you stated that he has potential, what heights he could have reached given the proper music education and training.
@jespellbnd3 жыл бұрын
You're observations about his singing technique was what other voice teachers/coaches also commented about. He didn't have any formal music education but to common folks like myself, what I hear is enough to give me the chills and teary eyed! I'm sure he's heard or given professional input from somebody (like yourself) to make himself even better than he is now. It's a privilege, by the way, to see and hear your reactions/comments on Marcelito and various artists. I do enjoy and admire your knowledge in music, on how you articulate the nuances of voices, etc etc....You're very credible and most of all, you come across as a kind and thoughtful person and very pretty, to say the least! At the time of this performance, the two languages he was singing in are two that he did not speak. No lessons, no formal training (just self-taught), singing in languages he doesn't speak, singing opera/classical style, singing pop, male and female voices, did I miss anything? Then, there's the amazing backstory of his life. Enough to bring tears. And then, after we think about it, that changes to tears of of joy and happiness for him. He has earned all the good the world has to offer.

Thanks for reacting to marcelito pomoy. You are right in your observation about not opening his jaw that much to produce that almost perfect soprano sound. He's not vocally trained as he grew up alone in the street at age seven. His mother left him while his father was encarcerated. He just sing when he fears being alone. Listening to celine on radio, he tried to imitate the sound, thus, started him to produce soprano voice. Pls watch his performance in AGT the champions 2019 where he sang the prayer, his audition song and watch the judges mesmerized by this performance. His semi final performance was Con Te Partero (time to say goodbye), another great performance and beauty and the best in the finals.

Yes I thought his upper range was a bit thin because of his mouth position. I didn't realise it might be helping him stay in pitch. Interesting. What a talent. Would like to thank this video for starting me down the path of music reactions and discovering him, Morrissette, Dimash, Lara Fabian, Angelina, etc etc but mostly Sohyang because no one has the control and colors quite like her. I hope you travel way down that road, reactions or not. Also Lara Fabian would be a good one to jump into. The from Lara with love concert ones. Emotion and long belt queen. Dimash loves her, sings one of her songs and has song with her. Her Adagio is something. So are several others.

Yes! Definitely more Lara Fabian. May I suggest a lovely song penned by her... "Broken Vow" (kzbin.info/www/bejne/fH-5g2OvgJ14mZo). I think Anna would enjoy Lara's stage presence in this particular performance.

My bad, I totally missed that one. Her and Sohyang are my two guaranteed clicks when I see them. Her pile of songs is at least more manageable, since well Sohyang's is quite extensive. Adagio is powerful and epic. "You are not from here" is as well, with a I think 20 second belt in there. If this got some emotions good luck with the I think 2001 or 2002 live performance, one where the crowd sings. Broken Vow was the other that came to mind. There is also a video out there of her singing in 12 languages.

Oh wow hello. First time visitor and have been watching a ton of Marcelito reactions last few days (lol I can't stop, haha) and I gotta say that even though I couldn't speak your language the subs were somehow perfect and your commentary, dissection and analysis of this stunning talent was clear and enlightening and better than any I've heard so far. Hugs from the USA and thank you for the cool reaction! I have a question, if I may? That thing he does with his mouth immediately after the song, is that a playful thing like, 'let me get these people out of my mouth' or is he 'resetting' his vocal equipment?

There has actually been some debate on that jaw movement at the end! I think it is a tension releasing thing!

@@annavaskelainen Has he done it after other performances? Maybe it _was_ him just being funny - wish someone would ask him in an interview 😆
