In two weeks they were crying for a woman who they had been hearing nasty rumors for years and fighting for her right to a proper burial despite the risk of Henry executing them.

She was indeed afraid that as long as Mary was alive, her position as Queen consort and her own daughter's legitimacy were questioned and unsecured. Therefore there was nothing she wanted more than for Mary to die. With only a daughter and no sons, Anne knew her position was vulnerable, The King desperately wanted a son and, had he died, a large percentage of the population and many at court would have supported Mary as the rightful heir because she was first and more legitimate than her own daughter. Anne was far from a saint and her well documented hatred for Mary stemmed from her fear that she herself would be cast away just like Mary's mother. Which is exactly what happened, her worst nightmare came true. She failed to secure her position by birthing a healthy son, Henry got rid of her, Mary eventually became Queen and Elisabeth I was once at Mary's mercy, her half sister could have easily signed the death decree, but I guess there was some sisterly love there.

Her character in this storyline (obviously a lot was embellished and dramatized) got exactly what she deserved. No television downfall was so fulfilling than hers. People tried to make her out to be some victim when her father warned her about the consequences. No one was sympathetic towards Catherine when Anne was plotting her downfall and stealing her husband. Nobody cared when Anne wanted to murder Mary for no reason, or when she lied through her teeth just to get a high position. She left a man she supposedly loved just to jump herself into the Queen position. But when her fast life backfired it’s “oh boo whooo”.
