I've listen this performance at least 1,000 times. Finally, I could watch it. In my opinion, even if it is played in a such romantic manner, this is a great performance

There are many ways to play a piece...I love this as much as I love Perlman's. And I also love Adam Kostecki's version with his students. Bravo!

I'm honestly surprised to see how many people seem to dislike Mrs. Mutter. Sure, I would agree that she may be less talented than some performers like Perlman, Hahn, Shaham, Vengerov, etc., but I would bet money that she's better than any of those that have left a comment here so far (especially me, by an incredibly long shot). Of course, you don't have to be as good or better than her to point out inadequacies, but at least have some respect for a superior, please.

It's not a song. This is a movement of a violin sonata.

Is there any authentic version of this anywhere? This one involves a modern piano, which didn't exist when the piece was written. I just want to discover ONE SINGLE authentic recording, somewhere, ever!

This is the Kreisler arrangement, the original of Tartini's if I'm not mistaken is played with an orchestra. Anne-Sophie Mutter did a studio recording of the original Tartini version.

@jualkyn right but she's expressing the pining of the music.... it was meant to depressing and mournful. She is simply feeling the emotion so deeply that she must express it. Sorry I get what you're saying though

@jualkyn it's hard when you are playing music not to convey some facial expression... I play (not even close to remotely as good as Mrs. Mutter) and people tell me I look like a lobster (my face gets super red)

@wakizashi333 how is she less talented than Perlman, Hahn, Shaham, or Vengerov?!?! She is better than ALL of those violinists. You know nothing clearly.
@jonasdiederich18954 жыл бұрын
who said that she is less talented than Perlman, Hahn or Vengerov??! She is a legend!! But I think she plays not better but just in a very individual, different way. Vengerov is the Ysaye third King, Mutter plays very majesticly, and Perlman is the Gliss-King, sound very sweet.

Please! All the classical snobs and self-proclaimed experts get real. She is so much better than the rest it is shocking. Use your ear and your heart rather than your brain and all your friends who agree with you.

I don't really like her performances in general but i must admit this music is well played. I don't agree with those hwo say she's better than Vanessa-Mae; the two versions just don't target the same public and Vanessa-Mae's is a little modernized, where is the problem ?

@wakizashi333 It's not that she is less talented. Some people prefer less dramatic violin playing. Anne-Sophie Mutter is a drama queen when she plays: a la Sarah Chang. However, the bigger question is whether or not the piece is performed stylistically correct. In this case, the piece was over-dramatically performed. Kreisler was never a dramatic violinist, and the best quality about his playing was that he was as cool as a cucumber. Celebrate diversity as you wish, but style must be a factor.

Comparing performers is useless and highly boring. Why not just enjoy the moment of what you're hearing. If you really don't like it, go on to something else. What would be the purpose of comparing with Heifetz, Perlman, Ehnes, Hahn, and anyone else who plays this piece? And why tell us about it? Why would we give a fig about what you think?
