We just lost our beautiful fawn staffie girl at almost 13 years old. The vet that had to put her to sleep was crying just as much as my wife and I, it was the absolute worst day. That gorgeous girl has left a massive hole in our lives, and although I’ve always loved bigger bullmastiff type breeds, I think we will only have staffies for the rest of our lives. I loved watching this episode, I saw so many of our girls characteristics in all these dogs, their personalities are just amazing!
@Woodsey__3 жыл бұрын
So sorry for your loss, I know the feeling, the hole they leave behind is just awful. I lost my Boxer who got ill really suddenly and although I love the breed, I don't think I could own another one, I don't want to replace my girl and they are not a very healthy breed anymore... but after a year we think it's time get another dog and we're leaning towards Staffies as although they are much smaller than what I'm used to, they seem to tick all of our boxes and just seem to have such beautiful characters.

They get better as they get older. Bond with nine year old Staffy is incredible now, not so much when she was a pup and adolescent. My temperament is not suited to younger dogs. She was looked after and always loved but I treasure her so much now more than I ever have and so does my family. She has improved with age exponentially. She is so well behaved on walks. She had a strong prey drive when she was a younger and was constantly incurring fines with council due to her behaviour. She never posed a risk to the family or to others dogs in the household, she has always been a loving dog but beyond our household we had to be careful. She was walked two to three hours per day and taken to a dog park for one hour per day to expend that extra energy.

The best breed ever. You can never get enough of them. These little rockets have a human soul in them. They are bored when they don't have anything to do but give them a task and they won't disappoint you. They may look small and really friendly but don't provoke them to a fight, cos they will do it with a passion to the very end. That is what those monsters take advantage of to do dog fights. If you get one for some time, you will never want any other breed. Got 3 of them and they are very aggressive towards unknown dogs but they can accept you in a day if you are introduced. When I had my son, my dog was really intrigued and won't allow anyone come near the baby. You don't know how strong they are until you get one. Mine would go on a walk for 4+ hrs under 37celcius. These ladies all know what they are into. They know their behaviours 110% 🥰🥰🥰🥰

People need to understand that although Staffies are tough dogs they need to have firm , not bullying or abusive , training as they can be wilful in their behaviour. Having said that , although they are mentally tough , when it comes to their families they can easily be emotionally hurt if you act in too heavy handed a manner towards them , and I’m talking about verbal communication. They have big loyal hearts for their families and should always be treated with the same, compassion ,love and respect as other family members . Brilliant dogs .

She is sensitive, affectionate, obedient, eager to please, wants to work for hours but will still think for herself unlike the German Shepards I’ve had. They are truly different than other breed. I’ve never met a dog like the “pitbull”. I think her favorite part of being a service dog is getting to be with me, meeting new people (especially kids) and having a job that feels rewarding to her. I can’t say enough good things about the pitbull breeds. The only thing scary about her is definitely her farts.

Belgian Malinois' & Staffys are my favourite breeds
@AlexeiArntzen3 жыл бұрын
I don't trust Malinois as far as I can throw them. They're just temperamental bite monsters. A real Staffy wouldn't bite a human. And that's a big difference. Edit: I should've said that real American pit bull wouldn't bite a human. Don't know about what's been done to them in the UK

Wow!! a breed enthusiast actually telling the truth, most people who own dogs capable of doing damage always push bad press & being misunderstood - I had a staff for 13.5 yrs and he was awesome - like the trainer says, they generally won't go looking for a fight if trained well, but it's amazing how many other dogs start stuff with them & they always finish the fight then get the blame - i adored my staffy, but once he'd been attacked once or twice, he wouldn't take nonsense from any dog -- best dogs in the world but you need to be able to read a staffy's body language, then you'll be fine.

Staffies like it or not are a national treasure in my eyes. Their just so dam cute anc loyal their given a bad press by vile owners who should be uthinised instead of the dog. Dogs are like any animal including us your not born evil your taught to be . Staffies are just beautiful loving caring and deserve more respect. I'm pro staffie how can you not live a dog thats always smiling and loving on you ❤ 💕 💗

Staffy’s are arguably the smartest, most lovable, and people-oriented breed you will ever find… We’ve had a Staffy for 11 years (Roxy) and are getting another next week (Bougie) - These dogs can rationalize, pick up on human feelings/emotions, and are amazing with children. BL - The Staffy debunks the ridiculous pit bull stigma of vicious and aggressive.

Yes, everything you said is so true. All they want from life is to love and be loved. I've never known a breed like the Staffy, they will always have my heart.

Another ideal setting for them oddly enough is a gym. My last gym the owner had 2 and they were so loved he left them stay in the gym. The boy was a big whimp who's only purpose in life was to play tug with you, he was super friendly and loved a cuddle pre workout. The girl was very motherly, fussed you when you werent feeling your best, loved playing fetch but would get involved if you are playing tug with the boy. Perfect companions between weight lifting sets or coffee on the couch with them. Always looked forward to seeing them, never heard a growl they are the best dogs.

Simply the best breed. Had many. As long as they are socialised from young and well exercised they aren't aggressive. However we did have a rescue one who had been mistreated. No amount of training, exercise or visits to dog Psychologists helped. He would go for anything no matter the size and not let go. I had to put my hand in his mouth to release his bite multiple times. Amazing around people but a complete menace around other dogs. He died of a heart tumour aged 6 and although we were heartbroken it was a kind of relief for him and us. I rescued an 11 year old complete black Staffordshire from a rescue 4 years ago. She was the most well trained dog I've ever come across. How she ended up on the streets ill never know. I walked her off leash all the time as she never went further than 2 metres away, whenever another dog came up to her she just stood still and looked at me as if to say "not this palaver again" and just waited until I told her to walk on or the dog lost interest. She had zero interest in other dogs. Just amazing temperament. I only had her 2 years when she died of a tumour on her spleen. Our other am staff /ridge back mix which we had from a puppy outlived them all and died at 17. She was spoilt rotten. My mrs taught her the best thing you can teach a dog which is to look somewhere else. Great when your eating and she was eyeing up your food. 😂😂😂 We lost all 3 dogs within 12 months of each other and can't bring ourselves to get another. It's still too painful years later.
