I have a criminology/justice degree and studies definitely support what you are saying. I don't remember the exact numbers, however, it IS usually the step father, uncle, grandfather, 'good family friend'. Women, while it's rare, can be abusers, too. What you need to look out for is the guy who is oh so great with the kids and will spend more time around the kids even though grown ups are around. The one who will happily play with other people's kids in the pool. Any physical interaction with the kids, hugs, banter but repeatedly and in a way that you'd normally only act with your own kids, not other people's. Basic grooming, happening right in front of everyone's eyes. And denying all the signs, they all think, "oh, he's just so good with kids." Look up young Leonardo DiCaprio on set with convicted pedophile Brian Peck, you will see what I mean. Yes, they chose an already convicted pedophile to be in charge of a child on a movie set without his parents. That's Hollywood. There's a video on KZbin that shows their interactions.
