My first time living alone in NYC + a few thoughts on being "alone." I have a lot of thoughts about being by yourself - something I think is important to learn how to do since there will be times in life where you'll inevitably be alone. But you're never really alone if you have yourself, so might as well make yourself good company :)

It's hard for introverts to navigate in a predominantly extroverted society. We are expected to mould our attitude so we can comfortably fit in. I hope one day introverts can be truly seen and appreciated for who they are.

I am happy to see that introverts can express themselves more nowadays and are better understood. I have always been an introvert but I never admited because people would assume I am shy and lonely which is wrong. Being an introvert just means I prefer to be by myself than with a lot of people. That's how I feel comfortable and what makes me happy but I am still able to talk a lot and share and express with strangers if I connect with them. I will not waste my time with shallow relationships and meaningless situations. I honestly can be a week without any human interaction and I don't feel sad or alone at all but sometimes I also force myself to go out and be with more people cause I also see benefits in it.

Had lots of convos with my mom like this growing up. She really pushed the “when you make commitments that affect other people, you can’t let them down” (unless of course you’re sick or have a legit reason) and I still live by that to this day. So I find that when I make a commitment to another person, I always follow through because I don’t want to let anyone down

Im excited to watch your next chapter unfold and see where you end up! My wish for you: that the universe will watch over you as you grow and learn in these upcoming weeks/months ♡

Nice to see a different nyc neighborhood! So cool that you offered the Aladdin ticket and now have a new friend in Christine! As a fellow introvert, when I’m with extroverts, I often default to following their lead. But when on my own, I end up taking more initiative and giving my own preferences and rhythms space to come forth, and I’ve come to appreciate that. 😊

I know you struggle with self-doubt. Don't. It's tough seeing "good" people limit themselves. Your job is not to please us, not to please me, the person behind the screen or anyone around you. You're a good person with a good intentions. Chase your dreams at any cost. I know this seems like I'm saying "disregard people's feelings", but that's because i know you're a good person, I know you can recognize mistakes, and how to rectify them. After all, you know that more than anyone. You know who you are, your mom knows who you are. She knows what you're capable of. YOU have to see it, and BELIEVE it. It's not if enough to know what you must do, truly believe it. I wish I could meet you to tell you this in person coz it's hard to convey through a comment. There is beauty in the struggle. You're a human after all, you're allowed to feel any way you feel. You're allowed to takes risks and fail. You're allowed to keep it safe and sit alone for hours. The choice is yours. As my dad would tell me, when i used to coup in my room for days to hide my eczema from the world. "I understand why you feel intimidated by the world but but I also can't defend your behavior." Please don't be afraid to share your ideas and ambitions with the people around you and chase them unapologetically. It's not meant to be sunshine and rainbows all the time, but when they come, it's because the universe is rewarding you. Cheers to you annemarie!!! YOU GOT THIS!!!!

Your mom is so cool! I’m also a huge introvert but my parents are the opposite to them opportunities means pursuing an education and doing all the right things. This has prevented me from wanting to connect with people bc I just don’t know how at this point at the back of my mind I’m just always thinking the worst. I hope as I get older I learn how to just live.

This is why I love your vlogs. You keep it real. I think some time in our 20’s and up there’s always a challenge-something that makes us uncomfortable to force us to change or reflect on who we are. It’s cool you get to explore new places while still be able to come home. There are people in NY who you can grow with. In Alaska, you have people who’ve known you for years and you can find comfort in their presence. It’s a balance between growth and knowing yourself. Take care!

Hey Annemarie! Any tips for “being alone in a safe way as a woman” like you mentioned? I’d be super interested in your take on differences in “safe” practices between NYC and Alaska (like city vs rural even)! I’m 25 and my dad’s advice for me being alone is “don’t” lol.

You can never be too safe! Some things that make me at least feel a sense of control: I usually carry around pepper spray in my fanny pack, if it's night, I'll hold it in my hand/pocket. I am always aware of my surroundings (I don't listen to music/podcasts when I'm walking around or using public transportation) and I don't tell people I don't know well where I live. I try my best to avoid exposing that on social media too! Always keep my phone charged and share my location with some friends and family so they know where I'm at. And if I get sketched out by an Uber/Lyft driver, I share my trip too!

I’ve been struggling with depression for about 2 years now too, and I agree! There’s something very calm and comforting about seeing her authentic life and it’s not so emotionally draining for me. I hope things improve for you, and though it’s not such happy news I also hope you find a little bit of comfort knowing that I’m going through it too, because I know depression can feel so isolating. Like you said, live a prosperous life and find fulfillment in what you do. Hope everything is better soon 💜

In one sentence : Don’t look towards what others are looking at, you are you own answer and you might need some lone time to understand the task you’ve been given. May have to do w helping introverts feel more comfortable and accepted in life and on KZbin but you only know. Think think think. This message my benefit others too. I think you are wandering a bit because you are a feeler and it’s hard for you to make decisions. Your profile is not very common so it’s not easy for you to “really” get along or connect with most people. The thing is that you don’t really need to. Maintain that glow of mysteriousness you have. Let’s say the higher you vibrate the higher you’re frequency is. These are just my personal thoughts : Let’s say you vibrate at 1111hz (you probably got the invisible world send you me with this sign) but most people vibrate at 400-800hz. You can mingle with these people (85%) and share good moments with them, but you can’t (and don’t need to) best friend them, you might only be able to best friend people who vibrate like you. You’ll find a few of the latter ones at successive stages of your life or some life-long ones. As a matter of fact hanging out with people who vibrate lower and joining them in their activity will likely be a draining experience. You have to be very self-aware. You have been endowed with a +400hz differential that allows you to sit back and relax and see worldly interactions with quite an objective mind while growing your strengths. You have already arrived. Just get comfortable with yourself. By entering the illusion that you need to learn something new or force something you might actually be trying to lower your vibration by trying to do worldy things that don’t match your energy level. Most people don’t have enough spirituality and get bits of truth at random moments that help them do a few tasks, or get in the right path. You already have the truth inside as a god-given ability, so you don’t need to take the road most people take. Financially speaking high frequency people can do many different jobs, but we are very picky, because we have a different call. But the thing, is the higher you are, the more probability you have of money being given to you. I think the right occupation wil find you, but you surely have ideas about what you are naturally good at. You are your own guide so you won’t need my help. But you know how to do. Writing this email helps me, so no worries about giving back (if that helped). Feel free to connect, even by telepathy, no worries. There is a bank of thoughts that I can access up there in space. Actually many people can too. All the good to you and your community. You are special and more likely to create something completely new than others (it’s a bit more lengthy, and hard but hey) helping society progressing in a new era. Luck !

❤Really LOVE your channel❤. I can listen to you talking literally all day!!! 🥲 can relate 100% to being more of an INTROVERT & finding and creating healthy community. As a youtuber from South Africa 🇿🇦, it's not possible to find community cause so many people don't understand what a youtuber even is where I stay. Like I'm literally the only youtuber in my entire city. So it's really hard to vlog here cause in most shops you're not allowed to even take videos. Has been challenging not having an in person community for support. Literally facing that struggle as I'm typing. But it's somehow motivating to see some one like you have the privilege of being in and around a content creator place. It doesn't make me question where I am it just motivates me to continue and maybe oneday I'll be living in a place that allows me that community too

I can relate so much. Sometimes you need to be away from other people so you can truly be yourself. It’s nobody’s fault, just something that is needed sometimes. I’m also an introvert and had to once live with extroverts. They’re great, we’re still friends, but I was definitely changing my natural behaviour whenever I was with them. It was so tiring and stressful. Wishing you the best!

I think a lot of people misconstrue introverts as people who do not like being around other people. I LOVE being around people, but I burn out fast and sometimes it takes a little push to go meet up with someone.

I am, too, an introvert and can definitely be by myself for long periods of time but the universe definitely has a funny way of introducing new connections each time I actually step out of my comfort zone
