@@tawouinnn Probably because there's a young girl with her dress up and you can see her in her underwear. Today, we censor that much more given the number of child predators there are in the world. And if that is still in the DVD, then you're possibly mistaken because while often the lyrics have them singing, "For us," after "Hard knock life," in that specific stanza of the song, the lyric does ends with just, "Hard Knock life." There. Two potential explanations depending on context. Hope that works.

If you compare this to the new movie, you'll notice how much "safer" or simple the choreography in the newer movie is. These kids in this old original version are impressive. I couldn't do a lot of what they did. Also in the new movie, there are less orphans, the line about asking who is Santa is not a genuine question asked by the protagonist, and the kids appear "cleaner." Lol I think the original is most impressive. Amazing how time changes things.

Take *Little Orphan Annie* out of the 1930s and everything falls apart, which is why the 1999 Disney movie and NBC's live one beat that piece of junk by a landslide. Is it really an adaptation of the same thing when it only has the title to go by and a few songs, but makes it just another standard rags to riches story interchangeable with any other? It doesn't resemble *Annie* at all beyond seeing a poor girl's life improve, and that is a stock story. See any other version, and you'll see what they have in common, even this which took such great liberties is still a decent movie unto itself. To call this movie delightful is to grossly understate the facts. This is coming from a 50 year old African man. I lost my sister Annie 31st October 1991 and to this day it is the most painful episode in my half a century on this planet. I was in a video store in Harare Zimbabwe when the the title of this movie caught my attention. I rented it not knowing whether or not it was a good pick, took it to my parents home during the Christmas break of 1992. This movie helped heal my mom’s broken heart. She laughed, cried and laughed some more. It was the first time joy came back to our family. Crazy thing is my sister Annie was a black African version of the orphan Annie. She was famous for getting herself into all kinds of trouble as a kid mainly because she the soul of curiosity and did not do boredom well.

The BEST musical in cinema history even better than West Side Story. Absolutely BRILLANT MASTERPIECE!!! 🔥🔥🔥🥇👏👏👏💪
@followthebluebutterfly3 жыл бұрын
My personal fave musical is ' Seven Brides for Seven Brothers' ( horribly underrated imo ... fun fact , Gideon is played by one of the actors in West Side Story early in his career). But this is def my second fave musical of all time. I must have watched them ( along with 'Grease') every weekend for like a year when i was seven lol.

I remember watching this when I was very very small, and dreaming of being Annie. I’d run around my room acting this scene out. Now I’m 17, and sitting my A-Level in Drama to pursue my dream of being a musical theatre actress. When everyone told me I shouldn’t do it, thank you Aileen, for helping me believe in myself.❤️❤️

@Christopher Bingham a foster kid switches from guardian to guardian and stays in different peoples homes through the foster program where as an orphan just stays in an orphanage which a bunch of other kids until they’re 18 I believe or until they’re adopted

Yes I agree 100% I'm watching the 2014 one which had no singing or dancing/gymnastics skills at all, it's all tech based and Jay Z did the music haha enough said. So many on here think Jay Z made the song up, so sad and so disappointing compared to this sparkling gem
