St. Vincent: Krokodil live at Coachella 2nd week April 23rd, 2012. Filmed from the front row with a Panasonic FZ35 & built in mic.
St. Vincent sacrifices herself to the crowd while performing her new single "Krokodil" spraying the sweat drenched fans with a massive water gun in 106 degree weather during Coachella's 2nd Week 2012. Writhing and twisting through the humid front lines, Annie Clark's animated expression could be interpreted as torture or valor... an intimate glimpse behind the porcelain perfect mask of the Annie Clark that's mystified and baffled us all. Kicking, screaming, spitting and shattering any dead-eyed-mannequinesque interpretations we may have had of her in the past, Annie Clark has arrived. And she is far from a cheerleader. Near the end of the song a greedy fan attempts to steal one of her shoes. You can see Annie struggling to get it back. Finally she wraps the microphone cord around her neck, rips the stolen shoe out of the fans hands and clutches it tightly as she tumbles towards the stage emerging pissed off, somewhat violated, sweat soaked but in her dirty grace, still brilliant and victorious as always. Beautiful witnessing this tormented, talented woman on the brink. Annie Clark, you rock.
