Annie Laurie on a restrung baritone uke

This is a baritone ukulele restrung with the A, D, B and E strings from a classical guitar set and tuned G-D-A-E low to high equivalent to an octave mandolin.

Lovely song and beautiful played by you. It sounds wonderful in its simplicity on your bariton, so every note matters and has to be right...they are!!! I like how you touch the strings with right. Left hand, there some difficult ones to grap, I think, but you mastered it well. I love to play this tune myself, everytime time I fall in love with it again. Kind regards, Ingrid

Lovely! Its funny I just noticed this on your channel -- it always reminds me of Danny Boy --- and you have that one too! Also the Baritone Uke and a tenor guitar can sometimes cover the same ground. Anyway all of this has convinced me it is time to get serious about playing my own TG-0. Thanks for the videos.

I tuned mine to GDAE by removing the G and B Uke strings (D [G] [B] E):moving the uke D to the G position, tuning it up to 'A'. Then, installing normal tension nylon guitar stings: A-5th where the D [uke] was, and G-3rd where the B [uke] was. Last just tune the new A-5th string down to G, and G-3rd up to A. I did this on my "Caramel CB103 30 Inch High Gloss Zebra Wood Baritone Acoustic Electric Ukulele With Truss Rod" and I am quite pleased. I don't know if tenor banjo strings will be to much tension or not since the bridge looks a bit light, but the current set up has been very stable and I have not had to mess with the truss rod (which is unusual in ukes anyways).

I like that approach. Steel banjo strings I'm afraid would damage the top, neck or bridge eventually? I see the Yamaha guitalelle is tenor sized and tunes as if a capo was on the 4th fret of a full size guitar. So, I'm wondering if a tenor uke can be tuned as a octave mandolin?
