Another fun, educational video. Little Annie did great on the most part. That squirrel chattering was adorable! Ours don't ever sound like that here in Louisiana, they speak Cajun 😂 I'm SO happy for Lena's previous owner getting to visit Lena. When I had watched Lena's story video and saw her baby picture, I got all teared up. I know her previous owner is SO happy for her. Also knowing that she can see Lena through your videos anytime. 🙌

I honestly don’t know what I’d do without you Graeme (hope that’s the right spelling?!?). I lost my 2 beautiful mares in March (long horrible traumatic story) and I haven’t been the same since. Your videos fill a hole in my heart and I thank you, I love the way you handle your herd, I treated my girls similar to you although I’m not nearly half as experienced as you. Love and appreciation from the UK.

Your videos make me want to keep horses again so badly. I wish videos like this had been available when I had horses, I would have done things differently and enjoyed them so much more. My instincts were all correct, but I was surrounded by traditional horse people who made me doubt myself. Your approach to horses is the same as mine, I enjoy these videos so much.

I hear that a lot actually, especially the part that people had to push down their instincts and listen to those in the classical horse world that use poor practices.

5:50 You've got Douglas squirrels! Anyway that's what I call those brown fellows. If you watch them up close, they bark so hard their whole body jumps. They have a lot to say! Wonderful to see all the greenery and ferns on the trail.

This welcome is fantastic😍👏 well done Annie! It's very good for her to have these walks in such a wild and beautiful park. Yes, this is the problem when someone doesn't take care of your horse the way you ask them to do and there is no way to control unfortunately apart from a general idea of how they are maintained. It would be great to have an interview with Lena's mom.. Will Lena recognize her? Do you still have the photo of Baby Lena? She was such a cute little thing .

@@StableHorseTraining Oh ok, I must have misunderstood 🤭 I mean with all the talk about plastic bags and what not (and a lot of it was the comment's coming from Rick) Where I live we have walking paths around 7 different lakes (in which poop bags are given out, and metal trash cans at almost every tree) and people STILL don't pick up their dogs poop 🤬!! Now to me, that's plain laziness!! But I never rode on "trails" persay. I rode mostly on open BLM land. Or up in the mountains where we made our own trails. Your content yesterday about it was pretty controversial. I totally get what you were saying, but I thought Rick had a lot of valid points! Like for instance after breaking my back, yes I used a mounting block, and sometimes the paths were entirely too narrow, you had the Mtn on one side, and a cliff on the other. Just a lot of different scenarios. Where I rode, there wasn't too much "foot traffic" Anyway, I hope you get your (community) problem worked out. Like I said before, where we lived at the time in NV. there was never any issues. I mean especially in the desert horse poop usually dries up pretty fast, turns to dust, and blows away.... Never a problem 😉. Good job Annie with the stream this morning. Blessings always my friend ❤️🙌 Jennifer

I get it, dirt trails are fine, I don't tend to care much about them. These are expensive gravel trails for the usage of all, including strollers, bikes, kids and seniors. Forcing them to walk around or through muddy sections of what used to be clean gravel is absurd and not mindful of the public. In turn, the public isn't stupid and they know exactly how to get these horses off of the public trails where they are ruining them every single day and belligerently saying they won't get off their horses nor come back to clean up. It's happening slowly and we're losing trail after trail here. Soon there will be none other than out in the wild on dirt trails. Which is fine overall, but an absolute shame for local riders that don't have a trailer to get around with.
@StableHorseTraining
@StableHorseTraining Жыл бұрын
On the note of mounting though, I too never mount from the ground, I always use something to get back up. In those instances I come back to the trail later or next day and clean up. As seen in the video.
@mikehenry6284
@mikehenry6284 Жыл бұрын
@@StableHorseTraining Yeah, I understand better now. Unfortunately if riders don't start to "care" your probably going to lose your beautiful trails ☹️ which would really be a bummer! Seems like the "minority" always ruin it for the "majority" 🤬 Basically the one bad apple scenario. In AZ where I live now, a lot of housing communities that are built as (small ranchet's) half acre or less, they have concrete sidewalks throughout the neighborhoods, and right along side them is a horse trail with short white fence on both sides, so horses can walk on the dirt trail, and others can walk, bike, jog, whatever right next to it. That seems to be working for all the people in those areas 😊. Unfortunately it might take losing your beautiful, manicured riding trails, before the equestrians get it, then it very well could be too late!! Such a shame. Hope they understand quickly 😉 Good luck 🤞 my friend. Love and Blessings always ❤️🙌 Jennifer 🐎

Do you ever worry about stone bruises to the hoof ?❤
@StableHorseTraining
@StableHorseTraining Жыл бұрын
Stone bruises are sort of a myth spread around by farriers that don't take care of horse's feet properly and blame rocks for the bruising on horse's feet due to their terrible hoof care. So, no, I never ever worry about them and in fact haven't thought on that concept for years until just now when you asked.

Okay. I have a question that is uncomfortable. How do you put a horse down? When you do, can you bury them on your property? I have never owned bigger animals, but have had 15 dogs over the years. They are all in my backyard. I just feel that I would want the same if I had a larger animal.
@StableHorseTraining
@StableHorseTraining Жыл бұрын
There are generally two options. You either shoot them in the head a point blank range or you call a vet to do it with chemicals. There are two options for disposal too, bury them on your property if you have a VERY BIG property, otherwise it's not legal, or call the local company that collects large farm animals for hauling away.
@susanr3560
@susanr3560 Жыл бұрын
Oh dear. Thank you for the reply. I suspected that shooting was the answer. But am glad to hear that there is the chemical option. Loving the walks. Hope to hear Lena's former owner's stories.
