Hi what do u do when u get several photos of a pet but the lighting isn’t ideal . It’s hard to see a light and shadow side . The light just seems diffused everywhere. Also how do u choose the background colors if in reference it’s something that dosent add to photo . Thank you

Hey @BrandiWineRN ! I will start with the background. Sometimes they choose, Otherwise I pick a color I like. People often do not like this, but I will only paint from one reference photo. I also tell them the portrait WILL look like the reference photo, but more painterly. I can not piece to 2 or more reference photos. This saves some headaches and sets up their expectations. I also won't start work until the half of the amount I quoted, clears my bank. it is non-refundable. Today I'm checking out some of your videos and I really like this one. I have yet to get commissions as I am in need to improve that marketing skill set 😊. I don't think tracing is cheating at all. Some use projectors and it's all to make your process smoother and easier. If you were to find out a way to make cleaning the toilet easier and faster, they call it a Life Hack...but somehow that doesn't apply to artists??!! Bunch of baloney.
