I just don’t understand how one can reasonably, and logically, expect to learn actual gunsmithing with no direct professional oversight. The “at home” gunsmith training concept has been around for a very long time and I’ve never understood how people think it’s a good idea.

@@Ironsightmike, for sure, and I’m not trying to bash them as I have no idea the quality of their instruction/materials. The biggest problem I see with a shilling in this industry is the no refunds policy from gun and suppressor manufacturers.If you are unhappy with it after you purchase it you are stuck with it and if they still make it, you are only going to sell it at a loss, if it’s an NFA item You’re married to it. So you try to watch some KZbin videos get an honest opinion before you buy, some shill tells you its great you spend your HARD EARNED money on it, and then you are very unhappy, And left to just take a loss and try another company crossing your fingers hoping that it doesn’t happen again.

Honest Outlaw is a member of the Leviathan Group. He has provided some negative reviews. He also has mentioned Patreon supporters providing some of his reviewed firearms but he also releases reviews on new firearms within days of release so he does receive firearms from manufacturers. These firearms are likely thoroughly tested before being sent out to content creators for "review"/promotion. He had a positive review of the Canik MC9. Just checkout out the Canik subreddit for all the problems with that firearm for the first year of release. I think mostly eliminated the issue but some are still experiencing an issue with the larger of the two recoil springs. I bought one at the end of May and also had to get a new recoil spring assembly from Canik due to spring failure. Many of the Guntubers have posted positive reviews of the Canik Rival-S which had a magazine over-insertion issue for about the first year. The new Canik TTI is suffering with reliability issues to this day but the reviewers seem to all have received good copies of it. I don't mean to just pick on Canik but that is one that I follow as I really like my polymer Rival and do like my MC9 as long as the recoil spring lasts thousands of round rather than needing to be replaced every 500 rounds. My recoil spring fail within the first 110 rounds I fired at my first range trip.

There is a lot of problems with gun industry practices that are serious. My former sister in law was getting her first handgun. For protection. She saw videos saying how reliable the high point 9mm is. Then she bought one. Took her concealed carry course, nobody there said anything about her choice because they dont actually teach how to conceal a handgun. Just subject you to 8 hours of telling you that you cant shoot anyone for any reason whatsoever. Then have you fire a few rounds at 5 yards. Then the gun had problems. She mentions it to her sister. She tells her she should call her ex, me, because my sole hobby is guns. What's worse is she has the money to buy a high end 1911. But she heard from the people who take the "its the shooter, not the gun" and "you're just paying for the brand" way too far. She didnt know any better. When she called me i rounded up all my pistols and borrowed some from a few friends that are popular that i dont have but have no problem recommending. Glock would be one. Got a Glock 34 for her to try out. Was going to suggest the 19 if she found the Glock appealing. I also wanted to try out my S&W 29 while we were out there since she knew how to be safe and load mags. She liked my Beretta 92 a lot. But did not want to deal with remembering to decock it after smoking someone. Then we tried the Glock. We found a winner. She also wanted the 34. She liked the looks of it. Showed her pics of rhe other sizes and she didnt like them. Except the 17L. When i started shooting my .44 she was also intrigued. I had a box of mags and specials. She wanted to shoot it. The specials in that thing are really smooth. She ran a few cylinders and liked it. She also heard she should get a shotgun for hkme defense. Her brother has one. She shot it before. Shes 4ft 11 and can barely reach the slide handle which meant the recoil was going to be severe. She asked about that 44 being a suitable replacement for a shotgun. I explained for intimidation it is and it is more powerful than a 9mm. So shes got two guns shes going to go buy. A S&W 629 full underlug 6.5" barrel and a Glock 34. We also split the box of mags. I told her it will be a slap into the back of the hand that isnt pleasant with some increased muzzle lift. She fired one round and thought it was the coolest thing she ever did. Then emptied out a few more cylinders of them. 240gr ammo. Hit targets just fine. She goes to the store and tells them exactly what she wants. All she gets is "you really want the Glock 19" and "you want this 2".38 if you want a revolver" followed by "whoever suggested these guns for you is a fucking moron" . What she was dealing with is a Fudd. The kind who thinks the 6" .44 is cool unless someone else wants one and whos tactical knowledge is Glock 19, Glock 19, Glock 19, Glock 19. I have a a 2" Smith 438 .38. I didnt bring it for a reason. She eventually tried it with some +p loads and didnt like that gun at all on top of not not hitting shit with it. I didn't want to put her through my gun buying process. Which is a friend of mine with FFL in another state shipped to my gunsmith to do the transfer. Thought she would be good going to a retail store. She's also pretty hot. So after irritating her with not getting her what she wanted he asked for her number. She was pissed and i told her i would handle getting the guns and she just needs to show up and do paperwork and pay when they come in. My gunsmith doesn't stock anything but gunsmith stuff. Hes very busy fixing, installing, and customization. But finds transfers to be worth his time. She goes to pick up her used S&W 629 and her NIB Glock 34. Then tells me how helpful my gunsmith was and also how he hot. He looks like Rob Lowe. So hes a looker. He hits me up asking about her. They been together for over 2 years now lol. Happy ending. But look what it took just to get her the guns she wanted, that would work fine for what she wanted, that she already tried out. Though not cookie cutter as to what she was supposed to get. All i had to say to her was "Hey he likes you to, called me and asked about you" and boom shes got a what looks to be a lasting romantic relationship. She puts effort into her looks. Makes good money. Wanted a guy who did the same that and has makes enough money to not need hers as well as posessing some other basic adult attributes. Not easy to find. But apparently easier than just getting a gun for self defense with all the bullshit advice and "im so badass i dont need a gun that is actually going to work to win a gunfight" claims from someone who's never experienced the shakes due to a situation getting outright confrontational trying to pass themselves off as someone who simply no longer gets them after multiple experiences.

PSA actually failed to sell me a PA-10, and I believe they lied to me after they messed up. The summary of my experience with them is on my Google review, but it's actually worse than what I said in that review. I left out some of my frustrations with them due to the fact that the review was already TLDR. My problem with them doesn't even get into the quality of their products, because they messed up so badly that they actually didn't sell me anything. I went a block down the road and had a much better experience getting my very first firearm. I live about 15 minutes from their factory in SC, so I'm talking about an experience at their main company store nearest to their factory.

This may be addressed later in the video, but I have one of these pieces of shit, and it’s abysmal garbage. The Jakl is arguably one of the worst performing and designed rifles I’ve ever handled, and that’s saying something. Poverty State Armory sent me some parts when I originally reported an issue to their customer service, to home gunsmith their products myself I guess, when I originally reported the issue of it not cycling subsonic 300blk even when suppressed, and even with the 20 or whatever gas block positions it has. I replaced the parts and it still didn’t fix the issue. So they demanded I sent it back so they could assess it and fix it. So I did that, and it’s been 14 months since I had it returned to me where DPMS, where it was sent to for warranty work, tested and sent it back to me with the claim they tested it completely, found absolutely zero issues, and said it was good to go. I went and tested it because I knew they were full of it, and of course it didn’t cycle still, and it had developed this new issue where the charging handle/charging handle sled would bind up as the weapon was charged, and stick causing this weird malfunction where I had to manually cycle it to get the bolt to go home. This also happened intermittently during firing, when I could get it to cycle. I reported to Poverty State Armory’s customer service it still has the same issue, as well as a new issue. They demanded video evidence. Ok, so I again went out, on my own dime, to test it and take video of the issues. I sent those videos to them, and their customer support team seemed confused, sent a bunch of monkey noises back to me via email, CSR-splained me how silencers work, and demanded I send it back again, only this time they demanded I send it with my Surefire RC2. They wanted to know what ammo I was using, or have used. They were shocked to find out it was their AAC ammo in the video, but that I’ve tried nearly all the subsonic 300blk I could find. Turns out, they tested it with supersonic ammo only, and it was working great, and they couldn’t figure out why I was bothering them or what my problem was. When I started asking questions and informed them that no, I will not be sending a multimillion dollar firearms manufacturing company one of the most commonly available silencers in circulation, that evidently they didn’t have and couldn’t get on their own, for them to use it to do whatever they wanted to do with it for some undetermined amount of time, they completely ghosted me. I also asked why I would send it back, with my silencer, when they couldn’t bother to even address the issues I originally reported and sent in for warranty work the first time. I told the CSR folks I didn’t understand why they needed it a second time to assess and repair something they clearly ignored the first time. I didn’t understand why they didn’t check the issues I was having the first time I sent it all the way back, and I’ve yet to receive an answer as to why that happened. In fact, they didn’t have any answers to these questions. I tried emailing for an update and a response to the questions and concerns I raised, and got nothing. I tried calling twice and the CSR’s who answered the phone complimented me on my patience and grammatical acumen, and promised to have some sort of manager or supervisor call me or email me, and in 10 months, I’ve received absolutely nothing. No more emails or phone calls at all. I purchased the Jakl in February of 23, and as the minute of this comment, it’s still garbage. So I basically have a $1200 paperweight that I’m essentially stuck with because I can’t in good conscience sell it to some other poor sucker. So it hangs on the wall as a tribute to the stupidity of Poverty State Armory, as well as to myself for knowing better and doing it anyways, and so I can use it to teach these lessons to others. At this point I’m sure PSA isn’t going to fix it, because they’re clearly too inept to figure it out, and there’s zero chance they return my money, as it’s going well past a year and a half since I purchased this piece of shit, and I can’t even get an email back. I’m sick of these fuckin room temperature IQ plebs and their asinine and illogical copium responses in defense of these business practices. It needs to stop.

This is why I stopped buying years ago and started building at least then its usually my own damn fault when the gun sucks. The sad reality is almost everything has already been an AR-18 since the AR-15. Nearly all reasons why you buy a weapon now it's based upon caliper or comfort (which is fine I'm just a nerd) There are people pushing the technology forward though, just not enough of the big guys. They are still releasing models designed in the fifties and sixties. Imagine if dewalt barely updated, their impact drivers from the original model. That's kinda how I feel about things like rugers barely changing over the years. To each their own though. I don't think anyone remembers it's supposed to come out eventually, but I really hope Franklin Armory releases the providence series within the next 10 years

The most important point you made to me was that guntubers warranty experience can very well be a much different experience then the average off the street person. This is a company who deletes bad reviews and then pays people to say nice things about them. After your critical review of the Jackal the psa community united via their forum to attack you. I do not understand how they can blindly support such an awful company. Sheeple. A recent SOTAR video autopsy of two psa uppers received a similar response. Apparently truth is a trigger. Morons! I have a PSA AR pistol. At about 750 rounds it’s still functioning fine. I’m not much of a rifle guy…I prefer my Benelli and Beretta shotguns, but the PSA is fine for what I do with it…which is just as a range toy. Having said that, every firearm that leaves the manufacturer needs to function as designed. QC should be a very high priority, and while PSA seems to have gotten better, it’s just not their top priority. Quantity has a quality of its own, I suppose. I don’t consider the PSA brand the “go to” company for quality. In fact, I’d be hesitant to depend on their Glock-clone “Dagger” lineup, and we all know Glock made a reliable design.

Regarding holding onto a bad product vs sending it back. I think this does not have to be an "either hold onto it and tell everyone about the issues" or "send it back and don't tell anyone" binary. Recently @RTTGunsGear did a video of his experience with the combat armory Glock clone full pistol. He ran into a ton of issues but then worked with the company to get it working. His review video showed all of the issues and the overall tone of the video was matter of fact. In the end, the pistol worked but it was also clear how much pain someone had to put up with in order to get what they should have had from the start: a working gun. All that to say, i would love to see a similar video for the jakl (or any other product). I'm not saying you have to do this I'm just saying that those videos (to me) are some of the most informative about what a company is actually made of.

@@FocusTripp (please forgive me if it seems like I'm putting words in your mouth; i am not trying to. I am a regular watcher of your channel. I'm trying to contribute to the discussion NOT label you as a "big meanie" or anything like that) Some of the comments from viewers seem (and of course i cannot read their minds) like they think you are not being courteous to at least engage with PSA to try to make it right. From watching your coverage of the jakl issues and people's arguments to "send it back and let PSA fix it" it seems like you are opposed to that because (among other things) it will essentially destroy the evidence of a bad product's existence (again, if that is not your point then i am sorry for not fully understanding). I'm saying that is a false binary. @RTTGunsGear (with the aforementioned review) showed how you can showcase a product's faults while also working with the company to make it right. In his case, no evidence was concealed by sending the product back because he documented the whole thing. (Please don't take this next part as me hating on you; I'm just trying to point a way to maybe make things better.) If you took the same approach with the jakl then maybe you would establish a relationship with psa such that you could ask them the biting question that you otherwise are forced to speculate about: "how many of these defective products are out there and what are you (PSA) going to do about it?"
@RTTGunsGear
@RTTGunsGear Ай бұрын
@rsagmil I generally try to give the company the benefit of the doubt. Of course if something like an optic loses zero during my destructive testing, the viewers will see it in real time. If a firearm has a problem, and the manufacturer fixes it, I do the review with the repaired firearm but let the viewer know what happened. And in cases like the CA pistol, I also was able to record the issue and the viewer also got to see it. Honesty is paramount. I'll watch a crappy video recorded with a potato if it is informative and honest, over a fancy video from someone who relies on showmanship and comes across as just a 10 min ad.
@rsagmil
@rsagmil Ай бұрын
@@RTTGunsGear yes. I really liked that video. I would be very interested in a similar video from @FocusTripp where he (publicly) engaged with PSA to get the jakl fixed as opposed to what appears (to me, a viewer with not all of the info) to be a "no way I'll send it back because that will conceal faults by psa" attitude (again, if I'm misrepresenting something then i am sorry). A video like that would benefit all customers because either PSA would fix their issues (including other impacted customers) or show that they don't actually care. However, I'm afraid too many bridges have been burned already so i wouldn't be surprised if psa didn't want anything to do with this.

And a smear campaign organized by one of their employees through their FB group page. But I've also never hidden my disdain for PSA either. I understand where you're coming from though. I shot about 200 rounds through it and the adjustment screw on the adjustable gas block came loose and the gun stopped functioning properly. I tossed it and replaced it with a standard gas block, since then, I've put over 2k rounds through it. Now it functions flawlessly, shoots smooth and is sub moa with match grade ammo all day.

As far as pure ad reads, I mean pure ad reads, people shouldn't be held accountable. It's pretty obvious the difference between the two. The consumers hand shouldn't be held. If you think a pill can get you to grow a big d*CK, then you should have your money taken from you, there's a lesson there. This is really directed at people who shit on the unsubscribe guys like Herrera, Eli, donut and the like, they've even put out episodes saying that their ads are purely that (have apologized for a couple, which they shouldn't have had to). Again this goes for purely and obvious ad reads, not opinion based reviews, reviews should never be monetarily biased, that's immoral
