As I'm fond of pointing out since crunching the numbers myself, Trump was the first president in American history to gain support and still "lose." It's a statistical abberation so unique that a legit loss is less likely than every single state election being above board during a _global pandemic._ Funnily enough, Democrats _regularly_ lose popular votes when in the presidential incumbency. Obama and Clinton both did worse the second go around, and Carter screwed up so bad he lost the whole presidency. This also makes Trump the only president in half a decade (if not _much_ longer) to get more votes the second time while being a democrat. Last one who could even _potentially_ claim that was Kennedy.

For all his faults, Trump has been consistently promoting himself for what, 40-50 years at this point? Logical or not, that' carries a quality all its own for folks seeking to support a known quality. Vivek simply isn't old enough to compete with that (or Desantis btw)...and frankly, jaded voter opinion here, the guy's background is simply to drenched in leftist elitism for me to trust his words alone. Trump on the other hand, doesn't really have any options left /but/ open warfare against the left if he gets in; he either fights back with everything, or he dies. Preach brother! Vivek endorsing Trump was the most patriotic and American thing I have seen in a very very long time! Much respect to that man!
@____________________5199 ай бұрын
Vivek pissed away any shot at a political future by doing that. Unless he made a negotiation with Trump (similar to how Biden bought out the dem field in 2020), he's stepping into irrelevancy, not unlike how Bernie did the same by bending the knee to hillary in 2016. At least in the case of Bernie, he quit after it was abundantly clear the dems would ruin him if he continued. Vivek's campaign was built on the belief that the establishment would not let trump win, and that "we won't be surprised when it happens, we'll be kicking ourselves for not stopping it." Either he lied when he said that, and he's not actually concerned that they won't let Trump be the nominee, or he's doing exactly what he said we'd be kicking ourselves for. It's much better for the country if the former is true instead of the latter.

Razor Rants are my new addiction!! The truth about DeSantis is that he's a lightweight. He was an unremarkable U.S. Congressman who barely won the FL GOP gubernatorial primary. He was getting pole-axed in the general by the corrupt, cross-dressing, Village People reject Tampa Mayor Terry Gillium until Trump launched a D-Day-esque rescue mission with his endorsement. Once in office, DeSantis compiled a list of impressive accomplishments due entirely to the fact that he had the luxury of a GOP-controlled state legislature that's given him whatever he wants. DeSantis might be the emptiest suit since Jon Edwards.
@tombarnett9379 ай бұрын
It really vindicates Razor's earlier rant about DeSantis v Trump from last year; the bloodsport aspect of these primaries is a very good, and very necessary thing, to both weed out traitors & empty suits, as well as provide a brutally effective training ground for those who survive. DeSantis simply has not performed well, despite all expectations to the contrary. Trump yet again thrives in the squared circle, "still got it" even despite his age and all his travails. Vivek a promising dark horse, but clearly lacking the experience and resources needed to reach the finals just yet. Haley fails to impress yet again, but finds surprisingly broad support via media programming efforts. Christi once more nakedly serves as an Establishment spoiler for popular candidates outside their control. Because Trump failed to take the Whitehouse in 2020 this whole charade was perhaps necessary, but it's interesting that we're past the first primary and...really nothing on the GOP landscape has changed at all since Trump left office. The Party Elite still hate & try to sabotage him, he's still more than capable of stacking the bodies of whatever fools they convince to go up against him, DeSantis is still a popular governor with dubious national prospects, Haley is still a weak-kneed squish serving the Monoparty, Christi is still fat...the only real news is Vivek, who I gather was pretty much the same intriguing but obscure object before I heard of him. So in hindsight, this whole primary fracas has been nothing but a massive waste of resources that would have probably been spent shoring up election security instead, had the party united behind Trump as an incumbent from the outset.
@kylekatarn59649 ай бұрын
You should actually go look at DeSantis' record as a congressman. To say he is unremarkable is a feather in his cap. Congress has been a fundamentally flawed vessel for decades. He moved on to run for Governor to affect more change in a lasting way. Florida has become a massive bulwark against Dem policies and helped shore of the flagging GOP election results in 2022. There's a reason Thomas Massie endorsed him. It isn't because of his pop & flash.
@Mad.Maxx.779 ай бұрын
@@kylekatarn5964 DeSantis never would have become Governor without Trump's endorsement and help. Once Governor, he never would have implemented so many successful policies without the GOP-controlled FL legislature's support. To say it was all because of DeSantis is a pathetic joke.
@kylekatarn59649 ай бұрын
@MadMaxx_V8Interceptor I didn't say it was all because of him. His ability to leverage the legislative branch has been huge. The most underrated aspect of Ron's past and governing philosophy is always looking to advance Constitutional principles and undermine Democrat power structures at every opportunity. It is extremely missional and very rare to have people in politics like this. He has been the glaring exception to any other elected Republican governor in generations. He took a slim victory and terraformed Florida with positive policy outcomes and effective governance. You don't win a State like Florida by nearly 20% by accident. The Miami-Dade Teachers union was forced to recertify their union charter after having mandatory participation for decades. That's massive. Has he bowed to corporatist pressure in Florida? No. Disney being one of the most significant economic engines of Florida was immaterial when it came to advancing the correct agenda with regards to schooling. Has he shown nimbleness when presented with challenges and vital data (particularly with COVID)? The appointment of Dr. Ladapo, as the Florida Surgeon General, is a huge win for everyone. Ladapo has been on a crusade against the bio-medical security State in Florida and has rightly called for the jabs to be removed from the market, Trump still thinks they were the greatest achievement of all time (they most certainly weren't). There's something to be said that Trump helped Ron get the nomination, but Ron's governing in Florida has been 100% who he has always been as a political animal. Advance the ball and do it effectively, damn the publicity. We're 9 years into Trump's wake of influence and we've gone backwards legislatively, electorally and the GOP Establishment has just as much clout as they did before he ever decided to run. He arrested the momentum that was building in the wake of the GOP's failures to stop Obama's agenda (like Dave Brat knocking Eric Cantor out of office via suscessful Primary) and I am starting to wonder if he hasn't been an agent of keeping the plebes happy/distracted while they get effed in the ass on the routine by the GOP. Trump's endorsement has largely been a kiss of death for actual results we want. DrSantis appears to be the exception.
@Mad.Maxx.779 ай бұрын
@@kylekatarn5964 DeSantis didn't have to leverage at all. The GOP controls the entire state legislature. Implementing policy has been easy for DeSantis. He proposes, the legislature approves, call a press conference. No better example of DeSantis' flaws than his FUBAR clusterfuck of a Presidential campaign that has effectively ended a once promising political career before his 46th birthday.
