A swarm of seismic activity continues in the Noto Peninsula. It is almost clear that hot fluid, said to be as high as 300 degrees Celsius, is rising from the mantle deep underground, causing the bedrock to slide easily and triggering a series of earthquakes. As the Nankai Trough giant earthquake approaches, it is believed that fault strain accumulates inland and seismic activity becomes more active in weak areas. This time is probably part of that process.
