1) Introduce who your are. Quick anecdote, background, origin. 2) Go into detail. Focus on your academic interest. 3) Plans. Future academic goals in a certain department. Connect interest and goals. Mention a specific course and professors. 4) Long-term goals. Big dreams, big goals, big ambitions. 5) Anticipatory things. Praise a program, a school, a city, a community, etc.

Personally I think the Statement of Purpose must be abolished because it is a waste of time for Graduate applications. Coming from Ghana I suggest that US Colleges and Universities lower their requirements for Masters Programmes. On the lowdown,I will beseech Admission Committees to be real and admit their Racism that they place in front of Graduate systems. It seems in America Immigrants are never totally seen as Full US Citizens.

I am a firm believer that GPAs and grades should be the main criteria to accept or Reject students they seek to Accept. Since the 1970s I see that institutional racism is alive or well within the US Education system. Cette situation doit etre totalement evoluez.Never before has Racism been so described within our Western Systems. Even Top Top Programmes like NASA and other entities brim with Racists.

I was applying to master's programs two years ago and was struggling to write a letter of intent. I was really nervous about it, considering my GPA from my undergrad was NOT good. However, I was able to leverage the structure provided in this video to explain my disinterest in what I was learning in my undergrad, hence the low GPA, to then express my intention, passion, and interest in the master's program. I also want to add that explaining what you plan to accomplish in the program and how you will use the degree in the future really makes you stand out. Well two years after applying, I can tell you that I recently graduated from the program AND was awarded a scholarship when I was accepted that paid for the program. HUGE THANKS TO ANN ON DEMAND

I am following some comments on how helpful and concise the content was presented on this channel. After working many years in a particular industry, I decided to pursue a graduate degree. I had no idea (a) how important this part of the process was and (b) how much I did not know about writing a statement of purpose. I actually started on my first paragraph and stopped to watch this video. I am eager to delete that paragraph and rethink my approach. Thank you for being so passionate, it really hit home.
