എന്റെ കോളേജ് പഠനകാലത്താണ് ജോൺ എബ്രഹാമിനെ പറ്റി ഞാൻ കൂടുതലായി അറിഞ്ഞത്... കോളേജ് ലൈബ്രറിയിൽ വെറുതേ വന്നു പോവാറുള്ള ഞാൻ ഒരു ദിവസം തിരിച്ചു പോയത് ജോൺ എബ്രഹാം കഥകൾ എന്നൊരു പുസ്തകവുമായിട്ടായിരുന്നു..പുസ്തകത്തിന്റെ പുറം ചെട്ടയിൽ ജോണിന്റെ മുഖം കണ്ടപ്പോൾ ഒരു കൗതുകം തോന്നി എടുത്തതായിരുന്നു അത്.. വെകുന്നേരം വീട്ടിൽ ചെന്ന് ആ പുസ്തകവുംമടിയിൽ വെച്ചു ഉമ്മറ പടിയിൽ കാലും നീട്ടി വെറുതേ ഏടുകൾ മറിച്ച ഞൻ ആ ഇരുന്ന ഇരുപ്പിൽ മുഴുവനും വായിച്ചു തീർത്തു. വ്യത്യസ്തമായ എഴുത്തു രീതിയാണ് ജോണിനെ പറ്റി കൂടുതൽ അറിയാൻ എന്നേ പ്രേരിപ്പിച്ചത്... ഒരുപാടിഷ്ട്ടപ്പെട്ട ആ പുസ്തകം ലൈബ്രറിയിൽ തിരിച്ചു കൊണ്ടു വെക്കണ്ട സ്വന്തമാക്കാം എന്ന് കുരുട്ടുബുദ്ധിയാൽ ചിന്തിച്ചെങ്കിലും ഞാൻ അത് തിരികെ കൊടുത്തു കാരണം ജോണെന്ന കലാകാരനെ അയാളുടെ എഴുത്തിനെ എന്റെ സമപ്രായക്കാരും ഇന്ന് ഞാൻ അറിഞ്ഞപോലെ അറിയണം എന്നെനിക് തോന്നി.... ബുക്ക്സ്റ്റാളിൽ പോയാൽ ജോൺഎബ്രഹാം കഥകളുടെ ഒരു കോപ്പി കിട്ടാൻ ഒരു ബുദ്ധിമുട്ടും ഉണ്ടാവില്ല എന്ന ധാരണ തെറ്റായിരുന്നു !!! 4 വർഷമായി ഞാൻ ആ പുസ്തകത്തിന്റെ പിറകെ നടക്കുന്നു ഇത് വരെ എനിക്കത് കിട്ടിയിട്ടില്ല.. കോളേജിലെ എന്റെ ജൂനിയേർസ് വഴി ഞാൻ വീണ്ടും എന്റെ കോളേജ് ലൈബ്രറിയിൽ പരതി അവിടെയും ഇല്ല.. !!! ഇന്നും ഒരു പുസ്തകകട കണ്ടാൽ ഞാൻ കേറി ചോദിക്കാറുണ്ട് ചേട്ടാ.. ജോൺ എബ്രഹാം കഥകൾ ഉണ്ടോ ?? നിർഭാഗ്യ വശാൽ ഇന്നും എനിക്കത് കിട്ടിയിട്ടില്ല !!
