I get it. I am on disability,psychiatric. I just rescued a cat . Nothing but love and money. He will be situated next month. Good to go. My cat that I have had for 9 years has to get her shots updated at a low cost place . It begins in October. I am on the waiting lists. This is something I have to do. Another piece of my lost soul coming home. Wardruna’s music has also had an incredible influence on me 💙

I hear you; I'm an Army vet with disabilities. fwiw, I'm using the free versions of the following: DuoLingo to better my bókmál, the Drops app to learn Icelandic, and the Learn Old Norse app developed by Tom Grant. The Learn Old Norse app is really meant to be used alongside a language course or book though, so it's not ideal for trying to learn on your own.

I don't appreciate the downplay of "hippie meanings". I took a course on the elder futhark, we were a group of 7 people - not knowing each other - and our teacher was a german shaman. after the theory of all the futharks we spent most of the time "meditating" or feeling into each of the runes and wrote down what we felt or saw. and I'm telling you that the "visions" we had were, if not identical, very close to each other. and the teacher then shared the spiritual meaning, which was mostly identical to ours as well. so I do think, and I speak from experience, that runes do have a spiritual connection with people who are open to it.

we started with each futhark set and felt into just the names. for the elder I saw an old forest and some mossy stones where the runes were engraved. for the younger I saw a bearded man staring into the ocean, seaming kind of lost or searching. and the teacher said, it makes sense, because the younger futhark was stripped of it's spirituality and also shortened from 24 to 16.for the armanen futhark I saw a man on a horse, wearing a black and red metallic uniform. and I felt a lot of aggression. I didn't know anything about the history of any of them.

I am not going systematically through rune rows - but my focus in the parts where I talk about how to think about the individual runes is on 16 rune viking age long branch futhark
