We need more movements like this in North America! It’s like every time I learn a new piece of the Nordic story and animism it becomes more of a ”we need this as a world wide community!” People are waking up and I think the tools are all there to help the world. Seriously though, the world is just dark and sad without animism. The world is alive and full of beautiful other than human spirits!

Fascinating, a reminder that we contain multitudes. It is a disservice to people to flatten people into images.

What an interesting figure. I find figures of the 18th/19th/20th century neo-pagan intellectual sphere utterly fascinating throughout Europe, such figures pop up all over Europe around this time. Thank you for all you do ❤

Speaking about trees, have you considered about making videos about the native trees and plants of Scandinavia from a Nordic Animist perspective? There seems to be a wealth of recent videos about ecological restoration projects in northern Europe from KZbin channels such as Leave Curious and Mossy Earth. It would be cool to learn about the ethnobotany about the Scots pine, birch, rowan, oak, Norway spruce and beech from a Nordic animist perspective. Been thinking a lot about how European tourists come here to Aotearoa New Zealand and marvel at what remnants we have of our Gondwananan rainforests and wondering whether that inspires them to have a closer sense of land connected-ness with their homelands via eco restoration projects and reviving + synthesizing animist knowledges. I do remember Machan Magan mentioning in your yarn with him about sacred oak groves in Ireland, which is awesome!

Great video. Kinda wish you followed best practices that a lot of other academics follow and liked a sources document. Especially when talking about controversial figures like Kold making it easier for people to do their own reading would be helpful.
@NordicAnimism3 ай бұрын
Perhaps I shoul pay more heed to that - thought I don't think that neither Grundtvig nor Kold would classify as controversial. Part of the problem is that I often read material in Danish, or other Scandinavian language so .. how relevant are the references really for many anglophones. Anyway. Here are a couple of references on books I have read on Grundtvig and the folk school movement Ebbe Kløvedal Reich, 2019. Solskin og lyn: Grundtvig og hans sang til livet Ove Korsgaard, 2018. Grundtvig rundt : En guide Ove Korsgaard, 2023. Højskoler for folket Ove Korsgaard however, seems to have some good looking anglophone publications

genuine question; does the phrase "white christ" refer to a type of bright splendor of his holy glory, or is this to be interpreted in the racial way?

At the time, it was tradition for newly baptized Christians (that is as adults), to wear white robes for seven days to symbolize their new purity and the cleansing of their souls.

The mark of the beast The Bible says that people receive “the mark of the wild beast” because they follow it “with admiration,” to the point of worshipping it. (Revelation 13:3, 4; 16:2) They do this by giving worshipful honor to their country, its symbols, or its military might. As The Encyclopedia of Religion states: “Nationalism has become a dominant form of religion in the modern world.” * According to the last book in the Bible, 666 is the number, or name, of the wild beast with seven heads and ten horns that comes out of the sea. (Revelation 13:1, 17, 18) This beast is a symbol of the worldwide political system, which rules over “every tribe and people and tongue and nation.” (Revelation 13:7) The name 666 identifies the political system as a gross failure in God’s sight. How? *

Somewhat semi-related, but you might be interested in Farya Faraji's relatiely recent video on Viking music. It deals with the broader theme that you have been discussing on your channel about the invention and mythologization of Viking-ness and Euro pagan-ness/heathenry by modernity. The point he makes about paganism and Christianity being innately syncretic mirrors Grundwig's philosophy. kzbin.info/www/bejne/nWLLgWeejrx4r7M
