This really upgrades this kit and makes it even better than it already is. I just got my Titan 70 yesterday and started setting things up and the app brought me to guitar center where I saw these expansion pieces. I actually already bought a 20-inch lemon-bass drum for my Simmons but I think I'm going to pick up the new 16-inch ride.

I am so happy to see this. I have been very happy with my titan 70 but felt that the cymbals minus the ride let the kit down. Now with this upgrade I can put them on par with the rest of the kit. I find the bass is still good enough for me.

They should have had a 3 zone 10" version of these for us who would like edge sensors for the hi hat, as well as a more compact layout. 13" is as big as I would go on the set. No room for those big ones.

Keithron, love the channel. I was set on buying the 70 until I saw the Alesis Nitro Pro XL. Can I use the Simmons cymbal upgrade on the Pro?. What are your thoughts on the Pro. I’ve been playing drums for 55 years. Thx, Richarx
@KeithronPowellАй бұрын
1) yes they’ll work on the Alesis… 2) the nitro pro seems to be a hardware upgrade. I don’t see anywhere where they upgraded any sounds or capabilities of the drum module (Bluetooth MIDI and Audio), better sound quality and expandability. There still isn’t a dedicated app. My thoughts based on what I’ve seen (I’ve not played it) in print is this is not a true competitor with the T70. It’s as if they’ve never seen or heard of the T70. If I was going to compare I’d put it against the T50. And it still may not win. The only advantage it has over the T50 is size of the snare… the T70 has the same size… also… shells don’t affect the sound of and e-drum. So having a thicker snare is esthetics and nothing more.

Keith. I have been watching your videos for the past few months and I have come to the opinion that you are probably the only accessable person with indepth knowledge of the Simmons line. To be honest I find the sales associates at Guitar Center/Musician's Friend to be totally informed about E drum kits, especially the Simmons line. My goodness, Simmons is their house brand. Neither of the local GC stores even have set up so prospective buyers can test them out. So I have 3 questions that I hope you can answer for me. 1. I like to sit high behind the kit, I'm 5'10". Is the rack high enough like the Nitro Pro is? 2. There have been some concerns noted in reviews about the plastic hardware fore the pads and cymbals. I d plan on traveling with whatever kit I buy to jam/play with friends. 3. I am suspecting that the features on the cymbal ungrades are controlled by the module. The Nitro Pro are single zone cymbals. So, I suspect that adding the Simmons cymbals to the Nitro Pro will not give you the double and triple zone features. I know I have thrown a lot at you and truly appreciate your. Thank you and look forward to seeing/hearing you response.
@KeithronPowell21 күн бұрын
I’m 5’9”…. If you’re going to travel make sure to NOT remove the cables from the rack. Also, just take care of it and everything will last. Of course… if the module can’t do it adding things won’t make it do something.

If I pay MSRP for the Simmons Titan 70, then do all the possible upgrades with the 18" kick, 18" ride, two 16" crash, & 13" hi-hat, I'm looking at 1,559.94, which puts me up into Roland & Yamaha price ranges. Could we please get a $1400-$1999 range comparison video for those "slightly higher than budget" brands/models that you would consider &/or recommend to someone looking at the Titan 70 with all upgrades? Even if it's just a discussion & not a play-off, I'd like to hear your input. I keep hearing good things about the Roland TD-17KVX2 V-Drums Kit & if I'm spending almost $1600 for the Simmons, I feel like I might as well save up a little more & spend $1,899.99 on the Roland. Thanks!

@KeithronPowell Actually no. I ordered a 13 for my Strike Pro SE to use as a hi hat SINCE YOUR REPLY SAID YES and it doesn't give you a closed sound. It's all open all the time. When I put the black rubber Alesis hi hat on it works fine. BUYER BEWARE!!!

@@iamjarrettdean9358did you scan the QR code to see what the settings need to be for it to work? I show in the video that you may need to do that on some drums.
@iamjarrettdean935820 күн бұрын
@KeithronPowell No. It's the way the Alesis plastic piece that sits in the middle of the hi hat stand operates. The cymbal doesn't go down far enough to close (push down the trigger)

How can this work with Titan 50? It doesn’t support dual or triple zone cymbals
@KeithronPowellАй бұрын
It works with most any drums set… I’m of course the module has to be able to take advantage of the cymbals capabilities but it will work. I’d suggest it if you’re looking for a larger playing surface.

This is great, but stupid question. Why don’t they just sell the Titan 70 as a basic kit and an upgraded kit? Because then you end up with useless cymbals, a kick, etc. that came with the kit and were now kicked out of the band, so to speak. 😂 To me, that’s just a waste for some people. Most people will know if they only need a more basic kit or want to start with a more pro setup. Simmons could charge less overall by also selling a somewhat more expensive pro kit for less than upgrading each part of the kit AND removing the basic Titan 70 parts that won’t be used because those parts have now been upgraded and won’t be used by those players. You understand what I mean? I’d love to recommend that option to Simmons because there are people who will know immediately that they want to upgrade. Why not also sell a second fully upgraded kit option and knock the price down by removing the basic 70 parts that now won’t be useful? Call it an All-in Pro Titan 70 kit or something. Sure there are people that will buy the basic Titan 70 and may decide to slowly update their kit over time. Then I can understand doing what they’re doing now. But why make people who know they’ll want the upgrades buy a basic kit where they will have no use for some of the parts they paid for and then have to pay extra on top to get what they wanted? Hope you’ll relay my idea because I think it’s good business to be considerate of people’s money, time, and not wasting parts that won’t be used from the get go when they know they want the pro upgrades out the gate.
@KeithronPowellАй бұрын
It’s super simple… it’s not about the simmons drums. It’s about taping into a market they’ve never really been in. These are designed to be used with any drum set… and of course, they work with Simmons drums.

Hey boss, I got a Titan 50 which you know has single zone cymbals. You telling me I can swap any of them out with any of these using the same wiring and it’ll become triple zone???
@KeithronPowellАй бұрын
No… I didn’t say that. I said if your module has the ability to play 3 Zone then this will work. If your set is only 2 zone then it’ll be 2zone. The cymbals don’t dictate what the module can do.

@@KeithronPowell gotcha, do you know is the titan 50 b-ex can?
@LordEdwards11 күн бұрын
@Skysights5 if you check the compatibility link on the simmons website, it says the Titan 50 doesn't do triple zone, but the 50 B-EX will. I don't know why that would make a difference as it is just a tom and cymbal expansion. Wouldn't the module be the same? I would maybe say call the support folks at Simmons to get an accurate answer for this because that aspect of the compatibility list doesn't make sense
