@paulmichaelfreedman83342 жыл бұрын
As an All-road biker (Honda Transalp / Africa Twin) I've always wondered what the point is of putting the knee down in turns. We're taught to keep appendages on board at all times, whatever happens. Putting out a leg to break a fall especially at higher speed, will guarantee a (serious) injury. Better to fall over and skid (you and the bike will separate immediately), than to have your leg crushed under the bike and possibly getting tangled in a wheel. Moto cross riders do put out a leg, but only when travelling slow and their bikes are relatively light compared to 600-1200 CC all-road motorcycles. Anyways, I've gone in to bends with my Transalp where the bike has leaned over so far that the edge of the sole of my boot scraped the tarmac, and the Transalp is a high bike. I estimate it at 60 degrees. But did that all with my legs and feet firmly clamped against the frame of the bike, with my body straight ont he bike, not leaning over.
@ridenm77482 жыл бұрын
Over time I've realized it isn't necessary on road but it does reduce lean angle by changing the center of gravity. On the right bike with the right ergos it just feels nice. The twist of the wrist books go into it more. Fortnine has a video explaining the merits of doing the opposite of leaning off.
