My head canon for why Pripyat is depicted as being south of the CNPP on the map is that there are space anomalies and whatnot that mess with navigation in the zone forcing stalkers to go through Pripyat to get to the CNPP on the way north so the stalkers put Pripyat there on the map to try to get a better sense of how they actually navigate through the zone

The first time I'd heard it, I hadn't rescued, or even seen, Zulu in the Pripyat Outskirts, but apparently, he was discovered while I escaped... and, again, neither saw, nor rescued, Zulu. I learned later, from looking at my saves, that Zulu had returned, and I'd unknowingly left him for dead. For a while, I thought that line was from a stalker who shamed me for letting Zulu die, since he was such a respectable veteran stalker that even the Freedom members of Yanov station held a special respect for him. It's interesting to know now that it was just a fluke in the English version.

Maybe that part of Pripyat wasn't teleported, but rather "misplaced" due to some spatiotemporal shenanigans, like stalkers think they head to the city by the road north, but are in effect in a different place without any visible signs of being teleported by the anomaly, so no white light flash BS and so on. And because that part of the city itself doesn't appear in CoP, we can assume that is seemingly in two places at the same time, but accessible only from the different one (that road north from Brain Scorcher during events of SoC).

about stingrays, that operation supposed to be the one in SoC when helicopters fly to CnPP as soon as the scorcher is off. some of them arrived at CnPP, some of them were struck by aerial anomalies. about pripyat, the most probable explanation is a borked map in PDA. and anomalous zones could easily screw with gps, so PDA's north can change too.

8:44 i do believe those multiple brain scorchers might be prototypes made by the C-Con, on their first attempts to make a barrier against stalkers, the Brain Scorcher being the most functional and powerful one. It's also likely the first prototype could've been the brain in X-16, since it depended on a live organism (a brain) to work, and after that, all the other scorchers worked through some kind of energy, probably from artefacts or the several transmission lines. So that explains why all of those other scorchers are rather irrelevant, because most of them probably failed or weren't finished, before the birth of the Zone in 2006.

In CS when you ask Lebedev why you've never heard of the faction, he says something along the lines of it's because they're secretive and they operate quietly under the radar conducting research and keeping to themselves. Perhaps the Final Day faction is a guise the CS members use when they have to go into the open and interact with other factions and stalkers? It makes sense to me, but then again with translations and my understanding of the lore I could definitely be missing something. Keep up the good work bro, I enjoy your videos.

I think something that would be pretty damn cool in S2, is if the "Pripryat" that is located south of the CNPP is, as you suggested, a city teleportation situation - but in this case, it's something similar to the Bus in Limansk, where an anomaly is located in such a spot as to have cut a perfectly circular piece of the front of the bus out and teleported it nearby. Think of that on a huge scale. Imagine a massive teleporter anomaly, surrounded by smaller ones, as being essentially a legit space anomaly field you will have to navigate - and the massive one in the middle (when I say massive, I mean big enough to encompass part of the city - this thing is seriously huge) carved out a chunk of the real Pripryat NW of CNPP, and deposited it south of CNPP. In S2 this will be represented with some of the big buildings having pieces carved out perfectly along the edge of the anomaly, just like the bus in Limansk, and you will have to make it through some of these cut up interiors fighting Monolith and avoiding smaller teleporters or something to ascend/descend to an objective around this anomaly field and the huge epicenter. This would mean, as well, that, concerning the Pripryat chunk that is south of CNPP, all of the buildings along the perimeter would be cut up, some fallen over and ruinous as too much of them have been cut from their other halves or whatever in the Pripryat NW of CNPP, that they have too little support - and the buildings in the center would be more intact. It would be awesome environmental storytelling, would look incredible (especially since you would come across the Southern Pripryat first, and then find out how that happened by seeing the real Pripryat, and this incredible anomaly field, later) and would explain the smaller "Pripryat" south of CNPP, and it having been turned into a great checkpoint for Monolith to defend the southern entrance to the CNPP, with sniper nests in the center and the fallen structures around the perimeter essentially creating a wall. The northwestern entrance to CNPP is actually defended by said anomaly field, as anyone who makes it through that Pripryat from the west is, without the proper knowledge to navigate, teleported to the small chunk of Pripryat that is south of the CNPP and ambushed by the Monolith posted there. I imagine the objective order would be something along the lines of getting through the small Pripryat from the south and entering the CNPP, only to be unable to access the main area and CNPP structure from the perimeter without something Monolith are keeping beyond the real Pripryat to the Northwest. So you head to the Northwestern exit along CNPP's perimeter, and enter the real Pripryat, only to walk up and immediately see this insane anomaly field that explains the southern Pripryat's existence...and you have to navigate it backwards to access the actual city (perhaps after attaining more info on how to do so), and what lies beyond it, before coming back and getting into CNPP proper.

11:10 About the dishes. I belive that generators (from how they look) are based on a part of Duga system. Eye of Moscva was just a reciever and not the sender of the radio sygnal. These big structures with round top were (from what I remember) responsible for sending the sygnal (there is still a clearing in the forest where they were near Chernobyl-2). So perhaps these dishes in Stalker were just a part of an equipment used to communicate with Duga control center (a building next to Eye of Moscva).

About there being multiple brain scorchers; I like to think we haven't seen all of the Zone, which should be obvious. We're only approaching CNPP from South to North thru Ukraine, but the Zone borders some other countries no? Belarus from the North? So maybe there are more Scorchers up north that are impassable and maybe the Zone in Belarus is much more hostile so everyone usually enters from the Southern Cordon in Ukraine.

Missing Stingrays: I strongly presume that these "tens of helicopters" (or dozens) are just an over-dramatization. Perhaps there was a miscommunication between the "loremaster" and the writer for the intro, if they were even two seperate people, but it seems very unlikely that the military would send minimum 30 helicopters (that's what "tens of helicopters" implies). There's a indeed the possibility that Degtyarev has already investigated the potential other choppers without them revealing any critical information, and it's also possible that the other helicopters belonged to different call signs but I think any of this is unlikely as the game's writing usually doesn't leave such massive holes. Let's crunch numbers: From what I could glean from the English wikipedia page, one brigade of the Ukrainian Army Aviation - the ones with the Hinds (Mi-24 and variants, which are the ones we see ingame) - had 34 of these gunships back in 2004, and there were/are four brigades, making 136 units in total if they were equally distributed (which is all completely theoretical, but I believe we can get into the general ball park with this calculation). I strongly assume that for a special operation with uncertain outcome - and likely planned losses - the army wouldn't spare a quarter of their totally available attack helicopters. Sakharov is zombified: On point. Really good theory - if you're part of Yantar for long enough, Yantar will become a part of you. Gazing into the abyss, and all that. I never once considered it, but it's clear some cataclysmic battle must have taken place in Yantar between 2011 and 2012, considering the environmental storytelling in SoC. "I don't trust you": The way I see it, there is absolutely no mystery or lore here. One should check whether it's present with other dubs, but I think that this is just a random, utterly misplaced script floating around in this particular place. If the developers wanted to create a mystery here, I reckon they would have been a bit more original with their voice acting choice. Multiple Brain Scorchers: Good theory, or perhaps less theory, and more established fact depending on your point of view. We know for certain of the wish granter, the brain scorcher itself and the Yantar factory complex. Perhaps Yantar was supposed to keep people out rather than creating new agents (Monolith soldiers in this case), explaining the large amount of zombies in the area. In Call of Pripyat, you can encounter some "rogue" psi-zones: As the C-Consciousness has been canonically killed off by Strelok at the conclusion of SoC, there's probably no purpose for any of those psi-fields anymore, they don't project a message anymore and rather just create new zombies, hence the huge amount of zombies in CoP. Side note: Since there is no C-Consciousness left by the time in which CoP takes place, that may be the reason why seemingly all of the Monolith soldiers are slowly going crazy (as hinted at by some of their dialogue) and even build these strange shrines, and some may even break free of the brainwashing (like Strider's squad). Pripyat 2: Spatial anomalies are no joke, just ask the SCP Foundation, but it feels a bit odd that an entire city part would be teleported or copied with nobody ever losing a word about it in any of the games. SoC featured Pripyat locations that definitely exist in real life, whereas CoP has at least the river port as far as I could find. I've always assumed that those were simply two different parts of the same city that we were able to explore in the two different games, and never pondered why they exist in geographically two different places. It might just be that the devs didn't do that either, as you theorized - most likely we just have to head-canon that Pripyat is in the geographically right position on the map, and the devs just didn't want to bother. But yes, I am playing the dev-ils advocate here, this is definitely something we should monitor for future lore relevance. 14:18 The monolith has ascended! Run! Monolith rules the world: Abstruse. Might be that the C-Con has agents outside the zone, but I doubt that it would have much sway there. None of the Wish Granter endings are canonical, and it looks like plain "magic" the way the Wish Granter/Monolith absorbs Strelok. What kind of scientific basis would such technology have? After all, STALKER remains a science-fiction game, and while some occurences within it really stretch the boundaries of even pseudoscience, the game never devolves to the usage of simple magic as a plot device. Of note is the fact that the Monolith - the Wish Granter - was devised as a tool by the C-Consciousness to prevent revealing themselves to even their "agents", primarily the Monolith soldiers. Instead, they'd worship this magic stone. It's possible that it doesn't even exist but is just a hallucination. Final Day killed Fang: Seems on point. A lot of conjecture, and I always dislike it when design documents are involved since they are basically about a game that never came into existence, but the theory is logically sound and doesn't rely too much on these documents. Closing statement: I don't know whether this is your "natural" accent or whether it's forced, but I feel like it's the latter. Don't feel offended if it isn't, I just never heard this particular accent before. Sounds like a Frenchman trying to do a slavic accent, which is consistent with the fact that your YT profile says "France" for a location. Can't tell you to quit doing it, but I can complain that it irritates me a bit. Not enough to prevent me from subscribing, though. There may be more of these long-winded comments if I decide to watch the other Iceberg videos, but as you can see I really like them.

I'd love seeing the channel grow, considering that you - and other big "lore" channels like STALKER Info and Into The Zone - might be the stepping stone for a lot of new STALKERs as soon as STALKER 2 drops, making it grow considerably. Oh, and I absolutely adore the channel name. For the topic of "Pripyat 2": A possible - and maybe realistic - explanation for the different map placements of Pripyat in all the games is a simple map rotation. Take the map of the real exclusion zone, rotate it cc 135 degrees clockwise, and voila: the city is in its right location. Maybe it sounds stupid, and I also not able to confirm this theory since I don't know the exact locations of the in-game playable areas, or how much of them is real or fiction, but it is possible GSC didn't place Pripyat the wrong place, just rotated the map to create a bottom-to-top lineral map appearance to the players.
@anomalousdugout95572 жыл бұрын
That would only work if the the locations were rotated on the spot as well: Pripyat's stadium is in the north of the city, not in the way of the power plant.

Regarding the zone creating copies of persons or even locations, this 'ability' of the Noosphere would actually fit PERFECTLY together with the IRL-String-Theory In this case, after specific time intervals or strong enough disturbances in the Noosphere (Emissions), the reality of the zone splits up and every survival/death of a person, creation/collapse of an anomaly causes another zone-reality to split off, sometimes those splits or not perfect and information gets mixed up, therefor locations changing or several instances of a single entity (persons) start to exist within 1 reality (being pretty much clones of each other) while those instances are outright 'missing' in their actual reality (explaining how stalkers can outright vanish from the zone with no traces of them being found ever again and even their PDA-signatur being just ripped out of the network).

I think the Pripyat 2 issue could be explained, especially in mods that connect the zone, like anomaly, as being the zone warping paths and locations. It's always said that there is no direct path in the zone, but to me it seems ludicrous to suggest that's only because of immediately harmful anomalies. I've always chosen to see the paths we are forced to take instead of say, a walk through the woods as being because the zone would simply disorientate you and either trap you or bring you back to where you started from. While this obviously doesn't explain the difference in layout when comparing the two Pripyats (a good reference point being the hotel, as it can be seen in CoP Pripyat but can't be accessed, like most areas of the more linear SoC Pripyat), to me it seems like the most likely answer. Also i know citing the movie is a little iffy when it comes to discussing the games, but what I've described happens in the movie, when the scientist goes back for his knapsack and the writer and stalker are suddenly back to where they started from.

i think a lot of the plot points around characters like guide and sakharov forgot who strelok was after he became marked one is that they all collectively suffered from the same amnesia as him haha

There's the explanation why there are 2 different versions of Pripyat across the 3 games and I always thought both connected each other but it wouldn't make sense at the end. And as for "I don't trust you" line, seems like a reused audio or some sort.

The Russian S.T.A.L.K.E.R. community has a simply explanation for the reason why Professor Sakharov didn't recognize Strelok in SoC after CS's events (let's forget about inconsistencies between): as we remember start of SoC, Strelok was found near crashed Death Truck - we can't exactly say that his face was injured (like he was injured during he's journey to the North), but maybe that happend and his 3rd person model shows us scars in his face. Another explanation may be with some inconsistencies too - as we know, before and after Scar's help with turning of Psy-emitters on Yantar in 2011 some groups of stalkers were guarding Sakharov's lab, but then, in the end of CS, Giant Blowout happend, Zone changed much (for SoC variant) and stalkers left Yantar because of psy-emittion. And then Strelok arrived again on desolated (or just filled up with Zombified stalkers) Yantar in 2012 after more or less one year after Giant Blowout - Sakharov just didn't recognize Strelok a year later. Anyway, we can just say "It's a Zone, dude!" or "Это Зона, братан!" like we say "It's not a bug - it's a feature".

The "I don't trust you" reminds me of Colonel Kovalsky's voice, perhaps this is because he feels betrayed that Degtyarev did not leave with the rest of the Military forces? Confuses me as much as anyone else but that is my theory.

I mean let's be real about the inconsistencies between SoC and CS, since SoC was rushed into an acceptable state and CS being their second go at making the game they wanted to make all along Also CS acting as a prequel, and being way too different than SoC, so lots of hiccups to be found between the 2 games, like Emissions being confirmed to supposedly happen frequently in the first game as they do in the second and third

Hi Anomalous, i just wanted to say that your viedeos are great and i wanted to ask you something. I have been writing something like a Stalker novel with all the Zone's phenomenoms explained in my word document in pc, and my question to you is if you can post it in discord server like a section for new Stalkers to read if they don't understand something about the Zone. Just to mention i'm writing this with my own knowlage not from wiki. Keep up your hard work, and with you and other Stalker content creators, this game will never die!

Actually, I have the theory that Ghost killed Fang on Pripyat, after him running away from Scar and the two bandits that tried to ambush him, what was supposed to happen is that when Scar was ambushed by those two bandits by mistake, Fang took his chance to reach Pripyat and told Ghost about the guys chasing him, then, they fighted over something, maybe the decision to leave Strelok being after thinking he was dead after the second raid to the central, the thing is that the things scalated til Ghost killed Fang, after what he would leave his body lying there out of panick, afterwards, some experts stalker woulds find, identify Fang's body and give him a proper burial, Ghost would've went to the group hideout and told Strelok a story about an ambush to Fang in the Military Warehouse, blaming his chasers (two bandits and a mercenary with a big scar and blue eyes) and make himself look like a hero who tried to avenge "his good comrade", things like this happen a lot in the Zone, life-long friends stabbing each other in the back out of greedy, cowardy or rage, that maybe happened to him at Yantar with the ecologist.
