These are amazing aircraft. 1950s but modernised. Think of the cars of that era. Imagine a Rover P1, Riley or Jag Mk1, not driven for fun but operationally, long range and in all weathers. They do terrible things really well.

I was in the Air Force 1962 stationed Castle AFB A SAC BASE B-52. I WAS 20 THEN NOW 83. I WAS IN DURING Cuban crisis.

As an American who formerly lived in Britain, I understand the trepidation some feel about hosting so many USAF airbases. On the other hand, the bases have allowed Britain to cut its defense spending to the bone.

My dad was in the reserves and took my brother and I to get our ss card issued on a B-52 at Griffis AFB in Rome NY lol. They took us on the plane, showed us around and before we left we got the papers. I think I was nine. The plane is bigger than my first 3 apartments together 😂
