Nothing2Where I never said patients are “problematic”. Never used that term. I said I don’t know how she can continue to do people’s hair with a smile on her face after getting treated like crap. In nursing, you can take a step away and gather yourself. You can’t do that at a salon, you have to finish their hair while in an awkward situation. I’m a psych nurse and I’ve been treated like complete trash but I absolutely love my job working with the severely persistent mentally ill population in the community in their homes and it’s my passion, and I’m going to be a psych NP. But guess what, there are patients out there that while yes, are sick, CHOOSE to be rude and I’m sorry If you allow patients to cross boundaries but sometimes it is absolutely unacceptable. And I am allowed to be frustrated about that. Nursing isn’t rainbows and butterflies.. it’s hard most of the time. I’ve been threatened, screamed at, called nasty names, charged at, doors slammed in my face.. all in the community in the clients environment which can include crack houses as well as bad neighborhoods and thank God I have never been assaulted. I LOVE being a nurse. But the reality is is that we have feelings too and it is possible to be frustrated and annoyed about it and still be a caring and compassionate nurse and take care of the rude patients WITH a smile on my face.

@jelatinosa5 жыл бұрын
I don't know about that. If they know they made a mistake or didn't give what the client wanted, they should fix it for free or if that's not possible, give a discount. The two last times i cut my hair they cut it several inches shorter than I asked, I need to tie it up for work, the first one admitted his mistake yet didn't offer me a discount or even a blow dry. The second wouldn't even admit his wrongdoing, made a bunch of excuses and they charged me triple what they estimated, for a simple wash, cut and blowdry that I asked for. They charged me for flat ironing my hair that I didn't ask for and because of the time it took for the cut, which was supposed to be up to the collar bone with long layers and he gave me a straight, flat shoulder length cut. I'm sure they had that mentality of charging every penny, even though they don't deserve it because of their inflated ego aka self worth. And they probably thought me telling them it was too short and that it wasn't the price they had originally told me, was me "throwing a fit", when it was just the truth.

elines acevedo also an estimate is called an estimate for a reason. It’s an estimated amount. Not the exact amount. If you’re broke and not willing to pay the stylists worth, find someone cheaper. Can’t walk in and request a 12$ haircut with thick hair down to ur ass sweetheart
@jelatinosa5 жыл бұрын
@@gretaj2214 A better hairdresser? That's just the thing. I've been to several stylists and most are just shitty, self-aggrandizing, egomaniacal people. If I go in asking for a wash, cut and dry and they give me an estimate of say $30, they butcher my hair and then ask for $90, you think that's fair? I wish I had thick hair I could grow down to my waist! I needed like 3 or 4 inches cut max, and they decide to cut like half a foot of my length when I specifically asked them not to cut it so short I couldn't tie it up for work. Then because of his inability to cut proper layers he flat irons my hair without asking or telling me it's an extra cost, and you think it's fair because it's just an "estimate, not the exact amount"? Do you even know what the point of an estimate is? It's supposed to be approximate to the amount. 3X more is not at all approximate, especially if it's in something you are trained to do. That is a scam! I probably should have gone all Susan on their asses and refused to pay that inflated amount. I should have just walked out actually, not given them a dime. Learned my lesson. Those asshole stylists are what create "Susans".

For example I had a stylist cut my hair but she didn't put hardly any layers like I asked for. I nicely asked of she could cut some more and it was fine! If they have an issue with that, that's their problem not mine. I had to get over the fact that not everyone will like me and that's okay! But I haven't had any problems yet!

After I left, she proceeded to talk shit about me with the client she was working on. How my hair was not a good fit for that particular haircut, how she would just do it and charge me extra for other services. How I would just pay because I seemed like a ditzy teen with too much money. She was horrid. I'm sure you are asking yourself how I found out about her behavior. When I was doing my Bachelors Degree graduation hair done my lovely hairstylist looked at the pics and told me we can do it but it will be a bit shorter as your hair isn't as long. I was like "of course it will be, that's no issue" and she told me how often people complain about random stuff like that. Your hair is a certain length, thickness and shade. You can change it up a lot but it cannot always look exactly the same. Do you know how often these pictures are of wigs? Or people with a lot of extensions so their hair looks thicker? Or getting a super ashy tone if you naturally have a reddish tone to your hair. Obviously there are miracle workers but people honestly just look at one image just as the video says. They don't see the hair in different lightings, hairstyles and so forth because that is what opens your eyes.

Just a heads up for the comment you said about her saying she wants the exact photo and then saying she doesn't. I've seen that photo before. In fact, I wanted this exact haircut not too long ago. But us, non hairstylists, don't notice the details at all. I didn't know it was shorter in the back, even now looking at the picture, I don't really see it that much. Hell, I didn't even notice the roots were black. When you look at a photo, you think "oh i need to do this, then do that and finish with that" but when we, customers, look at a photo we just think "wow this is SOOO pretty, i want exactly that, no matter what" without realizing sometimes it's blond and we are black so we need multiple treatments, and so on. I think you did a great job explaining it to her though and I personally have huge anxiety so I absolutely LOVE IT when my hairstylist takes the time to ask me questions about what I want. It makes me feel like she knows what she is doing and I get much more comfortable.

Until people understand there are diff levels of stylist there will be issues. I had a ton of issues. I discovered this once a kept complaining. I had too many who kept cutting off so much hair it didn't grow for decades. Once I understood stop going to stylist who were fresh out of school and pay the cost of the stylist and colorist with 15+ years experience I was happy. The colorist I had for. Decade went to lots is classes, taught classes, attend conferences, and was a director level. It cost a lot of money for color but it was worth it. When I moved to another city I found through a friend a new stylist. She has done my hair for 10 years and she got my hair to grow. Now I have the correct products too. I have never refused to pay. I am shocked anyone would.

Hi, I fully understand your story, and think your client sounds quite demanding. My story.... I booked an appointment for a bob cut, with a stylist I had use a couple times before. When I arrived I was told my stylist had had to go home early, but that (let’s call her) Susan will be cutting my hair. My hair was washed and I was lead to a chair. My hair was combed out and twice Susan pulled a knot out yanking my head back causing me to reach up and touch my head. Susan was apologetic. At this time the only other people in the salon was a lady having her nails done and a stylist doing the nails. Susan took so long sectioning my hair, I began to get a little nervous, but this was a somewhat older stylist, so I was perplexed as to why she was taking so long. Then when she had done just one cut, the stylist doing to nails shouted over, “what are you doing” where upon she came over and showed her how to make the cut. As you’d expect, I was now really nervous, the nail stylist stood and watch while Susan did another cut, only to have the scissors taken from her, and the nail stylist did a couple cuts on my hair. She gave Susan the scissors back, and I said “I’m sorry, but I’m feeling really nervous right now, maybe I should rebook the appointment “ where upon Susan did another cut, and nail stylist took the scissors from her again. I was about to get out of the chair, when nail stylist turned and said to her client, that she would just be a few minutes, and she cut my hair so quickly and absolutely beautifully, my hair looked so pretty. I felt sorry for Susan, but I’m also glad she didn’t cut my hair.

krislupi66 it is considering even at a salon in the UK that has a good stylist would cost inbetween £60-£80. A salon that has professional stylists would cost £100 maybe a little more depending on how good they are. Considering she’s not even the highest trained stylist there that’s super expensive

At the hair school I went through, clients would complain regularly to try and get a free service. We would do everything we could to fix it, but there were some sneaky, manipulative people. Trying to bargain your service on something that is 1/4 of the cost at a regular salon is pretty brutal.

I have NEVER walked into salon with a pic an say “I want this exact thing”. I just say “I like this. How close can we get to it?” because I KNOW my hair is different from the girl in the pic and the lighting used in the pics is vastly different. Most of those pics have a filter. People are crazy!!!

Same thing happened to me last year. Im a home baker and when a woman approached to me saying that she wanted a cake from me because all bakers she went before have never done a good job for her. But naive me needed the money to accepted. The following weeks she kept messaging me asking a lot of questions that I would already answered in the first meeting and highlighting the fact that I should do a marvelous cake for her because of the prior disappointments she had with other bakers. I think I did an awesome work qith her cake but 3 days after the pick up she wrote me saying the cake was awful, raw and nobody ate it. She also said that she couldnt have messaged me earlier because she had no phone signal. Which was a lie because I knew she was a journalist (so am I, by profession but ended up working as a baker) and journalists need phones with signal 24/7. Felt like crap but ended up ignoring her til she got tired and quit. Never refunded he. I knew she was lying.

Sounds like you’re an incredible stylist! What you’re referring to is white balance. The color temperature light gives off can range from blue to orange and tint from green to red. Natural daylight is blue, fluorescent lights are green, incandescent lights are more orange, etc... our eyes adjust naturally to this but cameras do not. I’m glad you recognized this and can help explain to clients.

Hey sis lil tip, from my experience as a salon manager previously (Rush hair, U.K), Two of our MAIN POLICIES: 1- never do a telephone consultation. (It’s near impossible even if they explain their hair) 2- never give a quote over the phone until you have seen the hair and had a consultation- as typically clients aren’t hair experts. So they don’t know about greys, undertones, coverage... And you may need toners- added colours etc Good luck xxxxx

I work for a company that supports the financial departments governmental institutions, so if someone is for example sick for a while, we come in. The things that have been said to me by 'Susans' over the phone because of the taxes they need to pay or the invoice they received for something else are bad enough. But you deal with them face-to-face, with a smile. I really respect that.

If you met me and we're standing outside in direct sunlight, and an hour later someone asked you what color my hair was you'd say red. If the same scenario played out but we were inside in a poorly lit room you would say my hair is brown. Lighting has such an effect on color, especially if your hair isn't one color (as most natural hair and high end dye jobs are).
