You always have to tell a food worker when you or someone else your with is allergic to something, because the food worker can't predict if you or someone else is allergic to something. Ask questions if you're not sure about a item on the menu and never order anything that you or someone else could possibly be allergic to. When I worked at Firehouse Subs a lady told me the her husband was deathly allergic to olives, so I made sure that his sandwich didn't go anywhere near olives.

I loved your story! And as someone who also used to be a server, I'm absolutely entertained by (and totally hooked on) these storytime vids, haha. But to play devil's advocate, it doesn't sound like there was any malice intended by these people (stupidity maybe, haha). The dude likely has a mild shellfish allergy, which he obviously should have told you about. He probably felt sick after eating, panicked, and the rest of his party overreacted. The $30 tip sucks, but a lot of folks who haven't worked in the restaurant business are pretty ignorant on tipping etiquette for comped meals. Given the fact that they went out of their way to leave a positive Yelp review and didn't demand their check be comped leads me to believe that they were genuinely appreciative of how you and your manager reacted. I'm sorry for the traumatic experience, but it sounds like you handled it well :)

thank you!! haha and yeah I totally see that as well! I feel like people are taking it the wrong way than intended, I'm not a shit human I was literally so worried for the guy. And it seemed as if they knew what they were doing afterwards so that's why I was so frustrated. AND I am a sensitive person and I don't think it should be a bad thing.

People NEED to say their allergies, whatever they are, there are people who assume kitchens won't chop different vegetables on the same board or cook things in the same fryer and like.. No we don't have seperate fryers/cutting boards for every ingredient 😒 why would you even assume that..

1 - KITTY!!! 2 - People who fake allergies or claim that they're having an allergic reaction ruin it for everyone who really is allergic. Also, you would think that if someone had a severe enough shellfish allergy (and if they could afford insurance because that crap is expensive) that they would have an epipen with them at all times and would make that thought ahead of time to ask if everything was cooked in the same thing. Especially if they are going to a restaurant of any kind that makes/serves shellfish. 3 - Dyspepsia (as I saw you replied to in a previous comment) being brought on by eating/drinking is something that would honestly keep me, personally, from ever going out to eat in public because I would be too embarrassed to have it happen while I'm out.

I think the fancy word might have been dyspepsia. Lol. That’s a medical term they use to describe pain or discomfort in the stomach. I love how you tell your story.

Was it just the 2 of them at that table? You mentioned that its not a fancy restaurant, just a typical sports bar yet there bill was $300 - $ 400. That sounds a bit high for 2 people to have dinner & desert at a sports bar.
