Another Couple Pinks and a King in Area 8-2

Some pre-work Salmon fishing the other day out in Area 8-2 on my Old Town 106 PDL. Hooked into a king at 30' actual depth early on, then over the next hour and a half landed my two pinks. Had to clean my lines of weeds and sea grass repeatedly which was incredibly annoying. Other than that, a great morning of fishing.

So when you cut the tail, are you just making a crosscut at the base of the tail where you typically end a filet? I've never seen anyone cut the tail to bleed a fish.

Yeah, I cut down to the backbone at the end of the body right where a filet would end. It's most useful for when you are bleeding on a stringer next to the boat/kayak. You can sort of think of it like shotgunning a beer. Open a hole in the gills at the top of the fish and then a hole at the bottom of the fish. It allows a quicker outflow of the circulatory system.

How long does it typically take you to get a limit?

When the bite is really good, an hour of actual fishing. When it's slow, two hours.
