Update : the police investigation has concluded that André died after a fall caused by a bloody puncture between 80 kilometers and 100 kilometers per hour after the statements of the cyclist Jaka Primozic, the only witness of the accident. Rest in peace my friend André.

How lovely that someone speaks out and presents a visual obituary of a person who gave everything for the sport he loved. Nowhere have I seen or heard anyone show their respect in the same way. This sport is so beautiful, captivating, and at the same time incredibly merciless when it takes a young person's life in such a harsh way. Thank you for showing respect. @@daveyboy6210 With such a dynamic, exciting element of modern Pro cycling's mass start , tactical drafting nature these risks will not go away especially with late bike technology getting addictive for the riders using advanced disc brakes, rigid aero carbon chassis and wheels designed for minimal drag all around, it just encourages more and more spectator wowing speeds that excite the participants and public. If we could back off a little with the technology that seemingly has an agenda to rival motor sports. I wish things would go back to the way they were years back, but the technology cat is out of the bag, which includes the sneak e motors that also add speed to the peloton.

Got the same thing with the opening her in the U.S. Reminds me of Nascar, where they use all the "horrible" things that Nascar wants to eliminate from the races by fining and penalizing drivers, in the commercials. Things like drivers purposefully wrecking each other, slapping each other on pit lane, fighting like skinny girls, throwing water from open bottles on each other, or even yelling at each other from close proximity! OMG! Nascar hates all of that! Hates it all so much that they can't wait to put the video clips of it all in their commercials to get the fans all excited.

With car drivers glued to their cell phones these day you are a lucky cyclist to survive a ride whether it is training or just riding. While racing at least everyone is going the same direction and unless you want to dress riders up like motorcycle road racing riders with leathers and air bags there is going to be dangers that cannot be ruled out . No doubt this cyclist dyeing is a dark day for racing! Prayers to his family!
@paulround46916 ай бұрын
I live in the mountains and descend on an almost daily basis...( at a reasonable pace) . If descents are included in the races it is impossible to make them safe, rock walls, huge boulders , barries , and big drop offs , you can't cover even 2% of it! Either you neutralise descents or don't do them, otherwise it is inevitable that accidents and tragedies will happen. To all the fallen rest in peace.

I am not a dedicated follower of everything in cycling, but my awareness of the cavalier attitude of race organizers toward layout of courses over the past decade is very keen. Certain stretches of downhill runs should never be approved for races. The risk to safety of participants is too great. Perhaps governments need to establish legal liability laws that put individual members of these race organizers personally responsible for their decisions on racing routes that are likely to cause riders to exceed a safe speed. Before today, I am sorry to say I did not know Andre Drege. And I am now very sad I will never know more about him. But as fans, we need to pull together to force cycling to make better decisions about where to race. Hopefully, Andre's family will soon see that his death brought about a safer sport for future participants.

Thank you for bringing humanity and decency to a for-profit sport. I'm not an expert at all, but wouldn't it be possible to use safety nets in areas where crashes are likely to occur during descents? They could be repaired and reused constantly during this and other races. My heart and prayers go to André's family and friends and to the entire cycling community. RIP 💔

This late rider was impressive for such a fast rise to pro cycling from his amateur days. I myself put in so much effort as an amateur racer but no where near as talented. One of the things so important to understand for us all is especially with the western culture(these days) and Scandinavia is if we fit the majority statistics now and secular, as in un Churched and of non belief in Jesus, and we pass, un saved, we do not have peace or Heaven to pass to in our after life. I realize this now much more than in my faithless past with so much prophecy coming to pass in recent time. I hope a few youtubers here will decide to take action for their afterlife, to ensure peace if they do pass anytime soon, and non of us know when that time will be. God Bless you all, in Jesus name, Amen.
@skeelo696 ай бұрын
Heres my take on it...cycling should adopt a similar method as in motorsport..theres a reason why a safety car is deployed in motorsport..so i say..whenever there is a mountain to ride up...take the time of each rider at the top..deploy a safety car at the top of the mountain to safely guide the riders down at a minimum speed...then when the riders reach the bottom then the safety car can be withdrawn and the race can continue.

Condolences to his friends and family. Not as many racers died even when they races sans helmets... Perhaps having a director screaming in their ears to go faster and race pacing that has increased so that they are on the rivet much of the time has contributed to racers taking too many chances. There was a time when racers controlled the race rather than greedy directors trying to maximize the team value.
