Ive played the violin for 15 years. The sound I'm hearing from the speaker, alot of shifting is involved. She's stay in 1st position throughout. And her Bowing is just way off. This is a big slap in the face for musicians. Bach is rolling in his grave.

They choose the violin because it is extremely difficult to learn, and people feel lucky that you are sharing your talent with them. Far fewer people would be impressed that you are playing a prerecorded violin through a speaker and pretending to play. These people are talentless and deserve nothing. I have no idea why you would defend this manipulative behavior, unless you have a similar "job" and this is how you rationalize manipulating people.

Best way to see if they are real is to ask them to play without the amp or ask them to play a musical scale with their background music. A real one will be able to switch the violin sound up but you can't do that with a recording. If they turn off all the music they are probably fake. Also look for vibrato. Most fakes can't mimic this so if you don't see their left hand doing vibrato but theirs vibrato in the music then it's def fake.

They are in Kansas City now. Scammers . I was in front of al Aldi store on a Friday morning and at least 6 people got scammed, older senior citizens , within two minutes. I wish I had a violin and a dishonest mind.

Saw this couple of weeks ago in Evansville IN,but it was a guy, my daughter saw it again in Owensboro KY, both at Targets.Bad thing is Owensboro is the home of the International Bluegrass Hall of Fame,so at least a few people around there play fiddle/violin 😅.

Just watch the hand on the strings. The movement of the hand will match the music. Anybody can fake the bow, if you know the song. If your fingers and hand movement match the music it's likely legit.

It isn’t tipping if they aren’t the ones providing the service that is being tipped. People are giving money, which you call tips, for the player’s perceived ability to play a violin, not for their ability to hit a play button on a prerecorded track. I have no problem with this if the fake player was honest and let everybody know they weren’t actually playing.

People are enjoying what they believe is a live performance, and the (recorded) music, plus, the person that pays/tips feels good as if they are helping someone out, and I'm sure the money does help....it is a win win, everybody walks away feeling good....plus the performer, who may have trouble acquiring a "real job", stays out of trouble, they are not clearing the shelves at the local convenience store.

After all, these guys are con-artists who are actively deceiving others under the guise of being a talented, struggling musician with a family to care for. You say the people who are contributing to the charity are being given a "fantasy" to gaze upon, which I suppose is potentially arguable. HOWEVER, I would strongly argue that if these good natured patrons were to see through the insultingly lazy, uncreative facade that preys upon one's innocent ignorance, then I seriously doubt said patrons would be so inclined to contribute. In fact, I believe they'd be quite disgusted, for this absence of authenticity is clearly indicative of one's true character and moral in context. In other words, it begs the question: "If this person is lying about playing the violin, then what else are they lying about?" "Are they really in financial trouble?" "Are they really homeless, and if not, then what are they truly doing with that money?" I can't speak for all, but from my experience, these guys often show up dressed in clothing that significantly suggests they're not scrapping for change -- Distressed jeans are the definition of frivolous, just sayin.

@@ColynKirkland yeah, you make very valid points. As I have described elsewhere, magicians have existed throughout time, this is another magic show...."a fool and his money are soon departed." If someone wants to believe in the fantasy, and has some sort of "innocent ignorance" there is not much harm done, they still received a music show that to them was worthy of a few dollars. I have not seen these guys on any videos clearing shelves, nor have I seen the people who are clearing shelves playing violin in parking lots....but I suppose it could be happening, but I just have not seen evidence of this. I will leave this here: The Book of Vagabonds And Beggars, perhaps most people should become familiar with this book.
