It’s nice to see your ideas come together and sing. You mentioned your idea is to use long lengths of square tube for the sides of the grill. Not mentioning where they come to the front center of the body is going to look like , what if you take each tube and at the nose of the car they a transition from square tube to a vertical fin maintaining the line and incorporated with possibly other vertical fins in the front grill . Just a thought from an idle mind . Great work !

You can use a 1/4 inch special rebar called pencil rod to form out body panels or to reinforce shaped structural panels. Its perfect smooth round bar and easy to bend or form. Its like $3 for a ten foot rod at your local hardware or concrete block suppliers. I use it to make lock out kit tools to open car doors when people leave their keys in the car. Orange County Choopers used the method with pencil rod to make fuel tanks, frames, and fenders.

I have taken alot of those rods out, they are hardened rod and I remember breaking the first one off and what a mess I had, that's when I got smart and came up with the idea of welding something to the end and use a slide hammer or a air chisel such as you did. AMAZING how fast it comes out! I love watching you and am happy you listen to your viewers. I learned alot from my elders and now that I am a somewhat elder with over 50 years experience it makes me feel great that someone listens to me. KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!!

Take it out and weld up a adapter bolt to a slide hammer small dent puller. This way you can clamp anything and use the slide hammer to pull on things with alot of force. Good job with the pneumatic hammer. I wish Canada will open the US boarders soon. I would to go up there for a vacation and stop in and visit you both. I want to see the early Sun rise.

Chad you're the man! for teaching and giving Aidyn a chance to see what working with his hands and tools is all about. Giving him an example and opportunity to think outside the box/use his imagination. Kudos bro. Your shop is like mine...some of it organized, some of it not so organized...I pictured a designated wall space to hang all your different length levels and think I'm going to do that in my shop. Now they're leaning against a bench, in tool boxes and hanging on a spare nail somewhere...maybe I'll hang the Squares with them too. Something Aidyn could do for you when he has nothing to do??? hehe. peace

you know it'd be fun to see you with a crew of people and endless supply of room and parts to see how your creativity really was. It's always fun to build but, the lack of time, money, parts, room etc.... always stands in the way. I'm suprised that you didn't eald a small plate uner the front of the 2 hood pieces to keep the distance and hieghth the same and then do it with all the grill pieces. I like what yours thinking about on the grill. I still would love to see a 5.9L Cummins in that for an endless supply of power and I have to say I love the sound too ! Keep on building !

Hi Chad & Jolene, suggestion: Where camping is so very popular, why not install a (incase you should sell the cab over) Turnover Ball Gooseneck Hitch, for a fifth wheel, or a regular ball hitch for tongue towing. You'd need horsepower, the right gears, and transmission, and a tongue GVW towing weight of somewhere around 3 to 5 thousand pounds, enough for a small 16 to 18 foot camper. Just a thought, again, where camping is so popular. Keep up the great work & videos, stay safe and the best from Washington State :-)

It's a little thing, but Aiden anticipated Chad would need the extension cord and had it ready for the grinder to be plugged in. I've seen literaly hundreds of young guys in my 55 year working life whose thumbs were stuck uo where the sun doesn't shine and would never try to think how to be helpful. Also, they were rarely interested in learning. Fortunately, there were many who have/had sucessful careers who learned to anticipate and learned well.
@davidshumway96393 жыл бұрын
Always good stuff. But I can't figure out why you didn't just find a way to extend the body line from the door forward for the bottom of the hood elevation. Also, the hood could be built on the floor or a table. And always remember as you have told us before, your shop isn't level. The cars can't be assumed to be level especially when they are sitting on tires and suspension. So trying to use a level on the car isn't precise in the least. Daily watched and love it all. Sorry if I am coming across too critical. Keep up the good work.

I don't criticize the way a man does his work as long as it doesn't affect another persons health . So given that you have an apprentice working in earshot of all the high decibel level noise I urge you to make sure Aidyn is wearing ear protection at all times, I assume Jolene is already using ear protection.Please put all the guards on the rotating pieces of equipment it's not if they explode it is when they explode,the flying bits are not selective of who they will penetrate at the speed of sound

@EdwardTilley3 жыл бұрын
You need to measure for center of the bottom hood. You're having trouble eyeballing the middle of the car at the bottom of that grill-center; use a laser leveler with horizontal and verticle if you have one handy. I also think the artist rending had a shorter top hood - and the center grill "post" would be nice with a curve (as seen from the side of the car - like the 35 Chrysler had). A curve to match the top hood near the top and then less curve as it approaches the top of the lower hood (instead of a straight center grill-support). You want to be able to see the front of the car while driving so that you don't roll over someone. I'd vote for a stationary verticle grill like the rendering - as opposed to horizontal; work on the engine from the side; the sides that were on the top hood could have been reshaped. It's a puzzle that ever automaker has solved for 100-years so keep looking. By the way, this is a diesel vehicle now (due to its size) - so I'd start thinking about that engine.

On the back of this project you mentioned using it as a hauler for motor cycles. But have you ever considered making this into an antique wrecker? You could add lights in border of the reverse half of the box in the back for tie downs for the cycles, or use that to hold parts for towing. With the size of the vehicle, it seems odd to me, not making it into a wrecker? Not the fancy ones we see today, but the antique looking ones back in their day. Just came to me today to see if you had considered this before or not?
