I think the sizing of his river bet makes it a fold. As Bart pointed out if the hero makes it a blocker size bet then gets jammed on it opens up the villain potential bluffs. It's rare to see a guy at the higher levels bluff into a big river bet. For the same reason the hero found the call button. That all in screams value.
@1vailchris
@1vailchris Жыл бұрын
Agreed. Even if hero block-bet river, villain raised pre, called hero's flop x/r, and called hero's big turn bet. Hard to believe he'd suddenly decide to jam over top on the river as a bluff, given the action. If villain's bluffs are so not-obvious that you struggle to find them, he's probably not bluffing.

Texas poker rooms are still in a gray area of the law. Yes, the Houston DA screwed it up but it shows that “the Law” could go after the poker rooms if they really wanted to. 300k people is a lot of people!!! A lot. Yep. You are correct on poker rooms, to a certain extent. Locations mainly are along the interstate arteries; large population centers where DAs have higher priorities than chase gray area poker sites. Where I live, though, there are no poker rooms within 2-and-a-half hours. Non in Abilene or San Angelo; one in midland (3hours); couple in Lubbock (4hours); one in Amarillo (6hours). So, you live along I-35 or big cities, there’s probably a poker room within a couple of hours. Still a gray area according to the law in Texas. And the Houston rooms trying to push changes in the rake are likely to ruin it for everyone.

@CrushlivePoker - if hero bets $450-$500 on river, and villain jams, is hero supposed to fold or call? Is checking really never an option here, when villain might want to bluff on this river card? Say hero checks, and villain bets 2/3 pot ($850-$900). Hero can bluff-catch with his straight, and win more than he would if villain called his block bet, or lose less than he would if he block bet then called villain's jam, or if he just check-folded to an over-bet. How often is villain going to check-back on the river after he raised pre, called hero's flop x/r, and called hero's big bet on turn? What is he checking back with that's worse than hero's straight and would call hero's value bet?

Combo draw, again!! River jam did not sound like a bluff to me, but what was it? Some players could do the same with a set, or even with top pair (AA, KK)? A7h or A3h are the only hands I'd put V on. Well, good enough to fold, I guess. It's all player profile dependant. In order to fold here, one has to know the V profile.

Seems like villain has all the nut flushes and combo-draws in his range. He could open pre from the HJ and call the flop x/r and large turn bet with all of them. When hero just flats pre, he's really removing all the best AX flush draws from his range. Hero's x/r on flop and large turn bet make it look like 2-pair, sets, or flopped straights, plus maybe something like bottom or middle pair with a flush draw, like Ah4h. I'm surprised villain jammed over the top with just the 9-high flush. Seems like it would just be a call. But as played, villain has so few bluffs when he jams over hero's river bet. Even getting 3-1, when you're struggling to find your opponent's bluffs, you should fold.

Is it just me - doesn't 9h7h seem pretty wide to open in HJ, then also call hero's x/r on flop and big turn bet? Not that I love hero's play here, but I definitely don't love villain's flop call, turn call, and river jam. It seems somewhat spewy, no?
@michaelpreminger4259
@michaelpreminger4259 Жыл бұрын
TBH I think this is a coinflip river decision. The bulk of our range here is straights, so we have got to fold some of them, but we can't fold all of them. No straight we can hold (other than Ah7x) has blocking properties to the flush, so just randomize. Interestingly, if we had bet small on river, and villain jammed, we'd be getting a much worse price so we can start to fold more straights.

10 7s is a great defend calling a late position open and closing action. He was ahead pre, ahead on the flop, and ahead on the turn.

@@adampawlowski4303 The problem with hands like 10-7 is that all your flushes are so easily dominated, all your made straights are so obvious, and a lot of your straights are going to be second best (like when your opponent has 9-7 here, or when you lose to QT when the flop is 89J). It's okay to defend and play a small pot with it if you make a marginal hand, but you need a monster to play a big pot with it.

@crushlivepoker (bart) it happen at 6 in the morning that place is prime to get robbed (surprised it hasn't happened before) it was more likely an inside job and they were hanging in the parking lot probably lost a good bit of money and went back in there to go get it back (speculating) nobody was playing Superman the dude just rushed him and he turned around and when he did he drop the gun and he fired back and when he did fire back that's my shots were fired and it was hit they started concentrating on him...(not to take it away from him scaring the people away) it only ever has one security guard I wouldn't go if it wasn't so much Ev I go in there make $600 in two to three hours and leave
