I do think it's worth remembering, but it's virtually never discussed here, that 1/2, 1/3 and 2/5 players are mostly terrible. They don't need to have logical bluffs to run bluffs and they love to pounce on weakness. They definitely check back marginal value all the time (like AT or 9T here), but they also go utterly bananas with complete air or low pocket pairs when people have shown strength on prior streets and then give up. I have such a hard time folding relatively strong hands the street when I first check, even if it's river, because I just see these lunatics turn over 44 or 66 or 45 or AQ off so often in situations exactly like this. I might still fold here because, as played, a draw on the flop makes most sense, but it's just something to consider. "What bluffs could they possibly have" basically doesn't apply to 1/2-2/5.

So I agree you will occasionally see complete non-sense and they still do have some logical bluffs, but I just can't imagine it is enough here. They called a check raise on flop with someone behind them and then called a decent sized turn bet they shouldn't have much nothing here. As for their value they have something like 30-40 combos depending on what their pre flop range looks like and how thin they are betting river. Even if we just give them 20 they still need 7 bluffs and that just feels like a stretch even counting partials of lot of random nonsense. I'd need to be very convinced that the specific player is both capable of getting to the river with random garbage and doesn't give up when they get there.
@Jermo484
@Jermo484 Жыл бұрын
@@qazzaqstan I very much doubt they have 30-40 combos of value and I probably fold here, too, I'm just making a general comment that Bart is never giving these guys quite enough combos of nonsense bluffs and ridiculous button clicking value bets.

@@qazzaqstan, that's a good point and the reason why I would fold in this spot even with the terribly play at lower stakes. Generally @Jenmo484 is correct but that's where it's important to take into account all of the facts about the hand.

Wow. Now, I haven't finished the video yet, I'm just at the flop action. Planning a check-raise here is just such a bad idea. The player says the button likes to fire, and it might be good if you're heads-up; but this is multi-way. If the button bets, and another player flats with a set, now you raise? This is a disaster waiting to happen. If you check-raise here and get 3 bet? Disaster. I think the better play is betting like $150 on the flop and then trying to get to showdown depending on the action and runout. Another issue is that if it checks through on the flop, you really have no idea where you're at. Let's say an 8 hits the turn and someone bets into you. What now?

I know the point is to get as much money into the pot as possible, but with KK, why wouldn’t you fast play it and drop some real raises on the chasers? If they call and hit then such is life but make it painful for them to get there.

@americasevilgenius
@americasevilgenius Жыл бұрын
I don't see the point of the checkraise on the flop...but that being said, even if you bet out as "normal", spades are going to call anyway. And then on the turn when he hits his ten...even if you bet huge, the button's probably still going to stay in with top pair and a flush draw. Only hope in that situation would be a fold to an All In, but even that seems unlikely with most players. While the strategic elements of this hand are interesting...I think that ultimately, strategy wouldn't have mattered much in this hand no matter what you did. Once he it top pair with the flush draw on the turn, I doubt he's going anywhere.

i think overbet jam on turn needs to be considered and mixed in occasionally in spots like this. i like looking for spots to do it. idk if this exact hand is great bc its 2x pot (or maybe the bigger the better lol idk). my range for this play on this board would be sets, A4, AA, KK, then balance with all my flush draw semi bluffs. i definitely prefer it in spots where the board crushes my range and my opponent cant have the nuts like say if im the prf on K97ss turn offsuit A. here opponent could have A4, 55 As5s type hands so maybe not the best spot. anyone like it here??

Personally, my guts tell me that 2SPR may be a bit too deep for the shove here, and I would like it slightly more when below 1.5 SPR. - I would instead probably rather consider block-bet/calling and C/R all- in as possible options here: I felt Hero's Flop CR was a bit too small, while his Turn bet was actually either too small, or too big.
@moaf2padventures757

@@Badbentham yeah totally agree. had he made his 3bet and/or flop cr a little bigger we may be in overbet turn jam range. like i said im not sure this is a great spot. but def should at least be on our radar in spots like this.

I think the flop/turn sizings here are slight mistakes in pot shaping. I don’t personally ever want to bluff for half pot on the river and I don’t ever want to fold for half pot when a draw comes in with a lot of showdown value. For those reasons I think arriving to river with 0.5 SPR is an awful place to be because my options are limited. I would personally go bet-bet-bet or bet-bet-check/evaluate and I would be sizing in a way to leave 0.65+ SPR behind on the river to feel better about jamming or check-folding.

In situations like this where so much of his range consist of flush draws why not just jam the turn? Why try to be subtle? Sure, once in a while he shows up with Aces or some strange 2 pair but apply maximum pressure. If he folds that's ok and he usually misses the river. And you might not get that much value on the river if no spade shows up anyhow. But, most of all, you want to punish their inability to let go of drawing hands.

That's why he should have shoved on the turn. Get the fold, rake your pot, and be done with it. People focus too much on SPR! So what if it's only a 0.5 SPR! 95% of the players at that level don't want to call off $1,000, on a flush draw, with only one more card to come! (Under the assumption that the villain has the nut flush draw)
