Big Rangers fan here. Not here to talk smack. I honestly can't believe we are up 3-0. Each game has been close. Igor and the Pkill has been the difference. I still don't expect it to be easy to put them away.

That OT goal by bread was killer. Good Game though

Each game has been definitely close. The Rangers defense and PK have found a way to shut the Canes down. It’s been a great series despite being down 3-0 for Carolina. I can see the Hurricanes winning Game 4, after that who knows.

I think it was K'andre Miller who was shouting "Go! Go! Go!" as the team was running off the ice through the door. It was almost like he knew they were stealing something.

well, also your PP and the Canes' kill, so i guess all of special teams. I mean, technically, the Canes' PP is -1, lol.

Rangers play smart very disciplined opportunistic hockey. And they are crazy deep.

I'm a DieHard Rangers fan, the refs start out with the best intention of calling the game as it comes, identifying penalties and calling them, but what happens is one team maybe generating more penalties than the other team or one team maybe producing points on the specialty teams at a higher rate than another team and they go away from calling the game as it comes to them and trying to even up the specialty team opportunities, I don't know if that's by design or if it just happens subconsciously to these officials, the Shev embellishment was a terrible call,I guarantee you will have a Ranger embellishment call in game #4...overall,I think this playoff has had way to many penalties called, thankfully it has helped the NYR but you just hope for an honest and accurate game called from these refs,it is a very difficult job

I was waiting all morning to get your take on the series. Excellent analysis. This series is analogous to a Pacquaio vs. Mayweather fight. Canes come in with a flurry of shots from all angles and Rangers wait to counterpunch. What I noticed is that Canes are way too aggressive and the quick outlet passes from Rangers D are resulting in odd man rushes. The Rangers have too many skilled guys who can capitalized in these situations. I noticed how the Canes backed off during the PP and look how much better their PK was. I'm wondering if the Canes need to make that adjustment and play a slightly different game. One thing I haven't heard anyone mention is how good the Rangers D has been. Other than the two goals given up in the last minute, Rangers D has vacuumed up every loose puck. As for the PP, your FO had the right idea of getting Guentzel. Unfortunately, you probably needed another guy who can finish in big moments. Guentzel has scored 3 of 6 goals for you guys (not counting the 2 last minute 6-5 goals). As much as the Rangers get bashed for being PP merchants, you need those skill guys who can create chances. Kuznetsov was a good pick up but his best days are gone.

Yeah sorry for the late drop lol I was at Game 3 covering it for my hockey news outlet so I got back home around 3am. But the Hurricanes on the PP like you said backed off, especially after the Kreider SHG. That kinda sucked the life out of that unit and you saw them going back to what didn’t work in Games 1 & 2. Got to give huge credit to the Rangers defense for shutting the Hurricanes down. Getting Guentzel was huge & hopefully they keep him around. It’ll be interesting to see what the Canes FO does this summer. I think this series goes 5 games but it’ll be a tough Game 4 on Saturday for the Canes. Heckuva series nonetheless

Something has to change, we can’t be statistical darlings year after year, cup favorites year after year, regular season juggernauts year.. after.. year.. At some point we have to confront the fact that this core and coaching staff might be fraudulent. Point blank…

I don't think that the Canes have been out coached. I believe the Rangers have more weapons. It's easier to coach with that advantage. The Rangers have more depth not only with the players they have as healthy scratches but we have more weapons coming at you every shift. If you look at the Rangers plus/minus during the regular season it would not indicate a Presidents trophy winner but that only means that the Rangers have won close games and they've been doing it all year. These games have been close, exactly what the Rangers are used to.

I think it is both. Rangers have high skill guys who can beat the D especially in odd man situations. Canes are way too aggressive. They are trying to make the Rangers D make mistakes and it simply isn’t working. Credit the Rangers for quick outlet and stretch passes hitting open guys. We had so many odd man rushes and break aways last game. Canes are not playing as well as everyone claims and Rod is not making the adjustment in their play.

Ranger fan here - I'm not here to gloat or rub anyone's nose in it, though. I'm as shocked as anyone to see Carolina go 0-15 on the PP, while surrendering numerous shorthand rushes (including a SHG).

To see the 2nd best PP in the regular season & one that’s worked in Round 1 to go cold is definitely shocking. Going 0-for-15 doesn’t help, especially in the playoffs.

It's no longer an outlier stat or a bounce here or there. At this point the pattern says something about the team. They aren't closers.

They’re not against a wall, they’re against history - comebacks from down 3-0 are a statistical unlikely situation. The way NYR is playing, I can’t see a 4-0 comeback.

The Canes have no one to blame but themselves. Despite having a 5 on 5 advantage, moreso than other years, I feel our D zone coverage has been lacking at times, especially the first two games. O Zone.... I'm going to scream if I see another rush that just becomes a glide to the side and a blind pass to the middle that has zero chance of being completed, or even worse, someone who has a chance to shoot decides to make a poor quality pass to someone otherwise open and no shot happens. Our PP....it's been bad in a lot of playoff years, but I think this is the worst it's ever been in any series. Just embarrassing. Credit to the Rangers for making the plays the Canes set up for them, but I don't think anyone can say the Canes are playing their best hockey. That being said... they literally are a couple of bounces from being up 2-1. They didn't get them, and even though they carry the play a lot, it is the Canes that have made the mistakes.
