I got pulled over at least three times in a week because I had an out of state plate. First they said because I wasn't following two cars distance from a car when I changed lanes, that required them to pull me over. Next time it was, I failed to maintain lane even though my vehicle has lane assist option that is fairly effective in keeping the vehicle in lane. And the most recent reason was I didn't use a turn signal when changing lanes because a vehicle was on the shoulder with their hazard lights on. I'm not going to say it had anything to do with race, given that I have tinted windows and they gave me a warning each time. However, each time I had to exit my vehicle and sit in the passenger seat of the law enforcement's car as a k-9 unit circles my car 🤷🏾‍♂️

No, it wasn't about race, it was about Driving While Black. Didn't your elders teach you anything? DWB is more serious than even DUI because DWB gives cops more chances to run plates hoping to collect money for old warrants, for failure to pay parking tickets, failure to be current on child support, failure to keep a court date, failure to contact parole officer, failure to be respectful to cops, etc. Any of those 'Failure To' crimes could result in the stopping cop getting an attaboy from his sergeant, depending on how much money they manage to wring out of the poor schmuck driving, getting cash into the city coffers for whatever fines and fees might apply. Since apparently there was no citation and thus no additional monies collected for the city, it was a waste of valuable tax-collection time, except to serve as a reminder about the seriousness of DWB. I hope this driver understands fully the nature of his crime, as well as the nature of the organization and people who stop drivers under this rule. It's about collecting money, and the perception by certain people that DWB itself results in a higher percentage of fines and fees than DWW, DWR, DWY or other types of DW-something crimes.

I’m curious about where this took place. Law enforcement can be jumpy or outright hostile towards open carry no matter where you are. We have less issues in rural Texas than urban communities with open carry. Especially when it comes to race, race based issues seem more prevalent in larger population centers when it comes to open or concealed carry.
