Kate, I loved this! This brings back so many memories. I was fortunate enough to go to India four years ago by myself. Hired a driver and just travelled. Went to Delhi, Agra, Jaipur, Haridwar (Himalayan foothills), and Rishikesh. I also brought back lots of fabric. Was hoping to go back in November, but with the current situation I guess I will wait. I loved India and miss being there. I am also taking Hindi lessons!

Hi Kate, enjoyed your memories of India. I have a pen pal in India and we have been writing for 54 years, since I was 14. We have talked on the phone, emailed and sent photos over the years. I received my email from you earlier tonight (Monday 25th May) and when I first opened it the soap and pantoran kits weren't available. I tried again a couple of hours ago and finally managed to order some soap and a pantoran kit - yeah. Looking forward to receiving these. Our lockdown restrictions here in South Australia are slowly being lifted, local/regional travel allowed, cafes and pubs opening allowing 10 to 20 clients for seated dining. I only venture out twice a week to collect the post and shop for the basics. Stay safe xx
@TheRitatube4 жыл бұрын
Hi Tricia, the emails contain the time when the shop will be updated, we just like to give people a little heads up. Things sell out quickly so we give newsletters subs a day's notice so they can be prepared.
@triciacouzner36294 жыл бұрын
@@TheRitatube Thanks Rita, yes I did know that the newsletters subs get advance notice of the shop updates. Due to the time difference here when I logged on your email was timed at 12.20am Monday 25th but it was 8pm when I logged on so I checked the shop but it wasn't till about 10.30pm here that the shop showed that the soap and pantoran kits were available. As I had missed out last time on the soap I made sure I kept checking till they were available. I do so love to watch Kate and listen to her stories and watch all the different crafts. Looking forward to receiving my items, cheers Tricia

Hello Kate, I've just been spending a lovely afternoon watching your videos.. opening your last 2 cases and minds quilts. What a delightful treat. Thank you for sharing that journey. I know upon opening them and puking everything out it wasn't a easy as you made it look. I was just wishing my mom had taken time to enjoy a creative outlet. She did enjoy drawing..doodling on exerting my whole life. Sadly I haven't any to cherish. But I do have a cpl very beautiful hands painted and gold inlay buttons. I found them stashed in the oddest of places. She did enjoy tucking things into silly places. It's just been a year and 6 months. So thank you for sharing ❤ I was intrigued by the Pantoran ( in fact the more I watch you sitting in front of the curtains you've made and the fact I haven't touch a creative/ sewing/ Quilty Anything in a few months .. a touch of winter blues or?) Anyway, I'm now very curious how to create them.. the pantorans. And I'm finding meld dreaming of a curtain for my bedroom.. a large turtle perhaps in an ocean of kelp and lovely sea creatures.. the colors that would light up the room in the early morning light🤔 now to plan a design and how to bring it together hummmm. At least I'm thinking😊 To the point I was wondering if you have a video on how to make the Pantoran. I'm a plant gal.. Sadly flowers and I don't get along.. tho I did have an amazing first go with orchids only to find i couldn't breathe. So I stuck the all things green and a bit tropical 😄 living in a darker environment ( inside my place is very dark n dungeonesc. Lol.. lost all my in house beauties when I moved in her 28 years ago. Tho I've taken over the master bedroom in order to have a sewing crafty creative space and there's a large sliding door to the patio.. all the lovely light.. and beautiful ferns etc on the other side. I found i leave the drapes open so I can enjoy them. And I've gotten a cpl lil tropical plants to grow. So exciting ) oh how I have been blathering on so..I apologize 😊 I do enjoy you and all the wondrously amazing talents and things you put your hands to and share with us. Thank you, your always a lovely blessing ❤

When I was in third grade my dad brought home the materials to make screen print Christmas cards. We got to make them, my sister and I. Fun job and we worked hard to make them perfect. Mother was in charge of quality control but we would tell her which ones weren't up to standard! I was eight and Vicki was six. Thank you for sharing your trip to India with us! I love fabric, paper, and puppets. Not necessarily in that order. Stay safe!

Oh Kate I just love India I have been every year for the last 5 years, well not this year obviously, but as soon as I can I will go back. For creative people like yourself it's heaven . It truly is a spectacular destination and most of my best life experiences were had whilst travelling around that amazing country, there's nowhere like it. You have to go back!

To be able to take such a journey with Martha must have been the best thing ever! Those fabric panels were popular among teenagers in the '60s and '70s. Draped over a worn out chair, pinned up on a wall, or even made into a blouse.

Kate, If you ever visit Levens Hall in Cumbria they have a patchwork quilt on one of the beds that is believed to be one of the first quilts ever made in this country from Indian cotton fabrics. If you ever fancy a day out you might enjoy it, when it’s open that is 😁👍

Memories of India!! We lived there for a little over three years in the early 2000s and being a sewist and quilter I was in heaven. I learned how to dye my own fabrics and added to my collection of tribal textiles while travelling all over.

I love these educational videos about shops, countries, and cultures! I love puppets and when I used to teach elementary Spanish I had two heaping plastic tubs with puppets, one for each child in the classroom. Now my grandson has them all! What a lucky little boy! There must be a story/history to the pantoran. I'm off to read up on it and then to your shop. Have a lovely day, Kate, and TFS the cultural knowledge and inspiration!

What a wonderful journey and experience that must of been! My dear dad was stationed in India during the 2nd world war and he always said, everyone should go to India. Don't think I will ever get to see it, but it looks an amazing place, so colourful and the people are so humble.

@Sew Many Things Wow! yes it is a small world indeed! I always wished I had asked him more about those times, but he never really wanted to talk about it, even refused his medals. He was in the Royal Airforce as is my son now. x

What a fabulous experience for you to visit India and to experience all the sights, sounds and colours of their vibrant country. I have always wanted to experience India for myself (my daughter went and loved it) but I have not been brave enough (not sure I could handle the dense populated areas and the worry of getting sick there) and now I think I am too old to try the adventure. I loved this video and thank you for sharing Kate. I managed to order one of the kits in your shop and I am looking forward to making this little piece of India when it arrives!
