Filling the Christmas boxes has been so much fun! Today Phillipa shows me how to make my own glass wish stick, in her studio. But we started the day with breakfast in our favourite cafe.... and ended it there too!

Beautifully photographed video!! Used to blow glass. When my husband died I took 1 Tablespoon/14.3 grams of his ashes an incorporated the ashes into two dozen glass pebbles. Gave one to friends when they traveled the world and asked that they toss in a lake or bury on a mountain side. Gives me great pleasure to know Ron is all over the world.

We DO love to watch the fiddly nittygritty micro details of doing. There is delight in each miniscule bit, every scritch of the cutter and the snap of the final piece. Deliberate crumbs! YES. turned into amazing beauty. There is not a single boring pixel in the whole lot of videos. We sit perched on the edge of the lime green sofa the whole time. )))

Love how your wish stick turned out. I have always loved glass art and I used to do fused glass and also lampworking. However, I sold my glass kiln and all my equipment a few years ago when I downsized into a bungalow and no longer had the space for all the equipment. Whenever I opened the kiln or used the lampworking torch to make beads, it always felt like magic seeing how the glass transformed. I was disappointed that Phillipa did not give you gloves to wear when cutting the glass. Fortunately you were wearing spectacles, so your eyes were somewhat protected. However much glass (whether small or large amounts) you are cutting safety is always paramount and complacency causes accidents.

February 3 2024 Maryland USA: I am finding so many of your previous video’s. This is a very different one in visiting another artist. Perfect reminder no matter what you are creating considering like here a huge space is not necessary. Kate I do wish you are able to travel and visit local artist like here. Your channel reminds me of a tv show I watched back in the 70's. Mr. Rogers neighberhood. He has passed away. But in his shows he would take us to see how different things are made. He was so calm and kind like you. It was a children's show.
