I suggest you move a little further away for the doubles drill. I like 10 yards 1) because its much easier to tell if I am becoming dot focused because the target is further away and 2) the group opens up so its more obvious to tell what happened with the dot and gun as I broke the shot.

YESSSSSS I think a notebook to track your progress is so important! I like to document how I felt after a match, what I did right, what I did wrong, etc. I always try to come up with lessons I learned and it’s nice to go back and review those. I recommend using a notebook to everyone that will listen.

I had similar mental block couple months back where I wanted to land good hits. Ended up placing low on overall ranking. As I don't have a USPSA #, classification isn't important to me. Rather I gauge myself on how well I do in the overall standing. At one match, I decided to also shoot the PM session where I went full durrdurrdurr speed and not worry about hits, ended up ranked way higher than my AM session. Sometime, need to find the good balance of speed and good hit.

Kinda interesting that you're shooting a P320 but you're not really feeling the 2011. I've personally found that 2011's were some of the most natural shooting pistols for me, along with CZ Shadow 2's. Right now I've settled on a modified Prodigy, but I've definitely considered going back to Glock just for the cheap mags, or picking up an M&P 2.0 and channeling some of that Hunter Constantine (in my dreams).

Too bad you don’t have a regular training partner. If you ever get close to Oklahoma you can come shoot with our Thursday outdoor pistol practice know at the club as “TOPPs”. We have about 10-12 people that show up and shoot IDPA style courses every week. .

Says "I'm not a fan" of the doubles drill...........Reason: ..because "OTHER people are utilizing it the wrong way".......what?????? Then proceeds to explain why she is using it...... and it is not the intended reason for the drill (ie she's using it the wrong way). I suggest you do some studying from Ben Stoeger....... Keep practicing, but do some more studying. keep training!

I definitely didn’t word it the way I wanted or describe it well! I understand the original purpose of it, but I have seen it taken to a point where many “do it just to do it” and many lost sight of the intentionality behind it. If someone told me to do it I was never given a reason other than “go to get better at them,” so I got frustrated and didn’t see a point, especially after I had already diagnosed what I need to work on. Even though I’m not using this drill for diagnosing necessarily, I am using it now to force myself to be comfortable seeing faster and simply moving faster. I don’t spend all my ammo doing it either - maybe a few rounds of it then progress to adding transitions. Hopefully that was a better articulation of what I was trying to say! It certainly has benefits and I have seen them for sure, and “doubles” can be trained for a variety of reasons too.

I know I’m not using it with it’s original purpose, but I think that’s the beauty behind drills and training. They can be used for what we each personally need to work on!

@@2alphagrace I think you missed the point of my first line. You don’t do a drill, or not do a drill, because others do it incorrectly…….You do a drill, to accomplish something…. other people have nothing to do with it. That’s like me not driving my car because other people don’t drive their cars properly.

@@2alphagrace If you're looking for more ideas. -Nick from Velox Training -Hwansik Kim has some stuff that's useful -Billy Barton from Spectrain -Ben Stoeger was already mentioned, but he has stuff sprinkled around outside his main channel -Milspec Mojo usually has some good drill ideas each month There's more, but I just can't think of at the moment because I mostly just pull from the guys listed above.

Why do people put those huge Acro dots on their gun? They look too heavy and seem to slow the slide down. The added weight on top of the rear of the gun seems counterproductive to reducing muzzle flip to me. They are almost half the size of the gun and cost an arm and a leg to get one. I guess it's like the Apple iPhone. When they first came out everyone thought they were cool because they were small. Then as time went by Apple kept releasing new bigger screen versions. They got so big you couldn't carry them in your pocket anymore. I see they are getting smaller again. I'm an old guy I like my pistol red dots simple with a small footprint on the gun but a generous window. These look more suited for mounting on a rifle. Just my opinion. If someone could tell me the true advantages of one of these on a pistol that would be great. Oh and I like my iPhone to sit comfortably in my back pocket without it sticking out.

@@fabyanm9050 Dude reached up his ass and pulled out an essay. The only gripe I have about the Acro P2 is that they seem to have problems. Ben Stoeger has a video documenting some of them, and there are comments referring to more issues. I believe Barrel and Hatchet also covered some issues they ran into a while back. For the price they demand, they should be as durable or more so than the competition.
