I am not trans either, but what I have learned about being a trans ally, is that saying “they” can sometimes also be triggering, and other options can be just to refer to the person by that person’s name, or to even ask for a preferred pronoun. Another way to be a trans ally is to donate to bail bonds for trans folks! GLITS is a great one! It helps trans womxn in nyc find housing when they get out from Rikers!

trans / genderqueer person here! best practice is to just ask if you have the chance, and also that's not realistic sometimes or the person isn't in the room, so me & most / all of the trans people in my life (which is a lot lol) just use they/them as a default. would appreciate a different ending, but i do get the feeling that it's more "gurl" than "girl" energy, so i'm also not that mad at it.
