I did the day trip from Kona and spent more time at the south point. It was so peaceful seeing all those fisherman. My volcano time was shorter, but I had a NP pass. I just saw the lava from the setup at the time from the Devastation trail and walked the car path to the volcano site just to see Hilo. Long day but fun.

Here's some lava footage we got back in February by showing up _very_ early in the morning (one of the good things about still being on Chicago time when we got there.)
