3:10 /12:50 edge to edge panel glue up will NOT snap, a Biscuit is used for alignment not for strength. You will NEVER just add a biscuit without glue the way you showed it breaking. You wouldn't even do that with a domino either. Glue holds the joinery not a biscuit and not a domino. This is perfectly fine for tabletop glue ups. The apron supports the table top anyway so there will not be stress on the joint as you show either.

The "M" on the depth adjustment knob stands for "maximum" depth...which is 20mm or 25/32" according to manual.

But you can plunge start and end on a router table and hide the groove. Just two pencil marks.

Interesting use. I have the same joiner and only use it to cut a slot for the z-clips when attaching table tops. Quicker than using a router or dado stack.

Thanks for the video, I'm wondering if using a cordless router with a slot cutting bit might be a better way to go for the fasteners ?

I tried it, and the little extra step of turning it on vs pulling a trigger added to much time. The next deck we do like this I will use a router table and hide the sides with a face board.

Biscuits are not really meant to be structural - they are more an alignment aid to get level surfaces and work in conjunction with other fixings or glue. Festool’s domino system is good but the dominos are far more expensive to buy than standard biscuits. Another option might be Lamello’s Clamex system, but again cost is high and certainly overkill for decking ;-)

The quality and strength of standard wooden bisquits is attrocious. Wonder if any company makes high strength bisquits from high grade, 4mm plywood, which has a carbon fiber like strength. Lamello connectors are too expensive to consider.

I feel the same way that’s why I switched to the festool domino system. I know it’s super expensive but once you start using it, it really makes woodworking fun and much more accurate.

Dominos is too expensive and the pieces are also expensive. If the boards are just glued with nothing else it will not snap at the place of the glue soo i don't really see the advantage if the domino unless you are not going to use glue than domino will defiantly be stronger.

I disagree with your comment that the biscuit isn’t strong enough for a table If it’s glued properly it will never come apart

Biscuits are for alignment. They are not tenons, which are made for strength and alignment. They do work but not nearly as good. Agreed that if you glue and clamp it’s not likely to come apart. But a would still weather use a tenon

Biscuits are not meant too be used for adding strength. It’s all about alignment. When you expect more from something than it’s intended use, you will always be disappointed.
