Thanks for this! I’ve been watching quite a few of your videos lately, and right now I’m focusing on the buying do’s and don’t’s/strategies. With that in mind, what’s a good percentage below MSRP to give them when they ask for a price? You said to definitely low ball them, but I’ve never been comfortable with cars or RVs knowing what that threshold is. A percentage below MSRP would really help.

Another tip is don't have the wife fall in love with it in front of the salesperson! Have the good/bad cop game. I've gone in looking with the salesperson with a budget of X and then the wife starts looking at nicer and bigger rigs and we used that budget number to drive down the price on the step up rig. Worked fine on the last rig we got.

- Buy out of season if you don't live in a place like Florida or Arizona. - Known the rig that you want and pay for it before ever stepping into the dealer - only works with new units ( that way they have no chance to play the game) - Have the cash available and don't even mention about utilizing in-house financing. - As you said, be flexible on features. - Buy the last years model. - Go to a dealer in a smaller town if you can, that way you have a greater chance of dealing with the owner directly and cutting out all the hungry sharks. - Become comfortable with saying the word no. - Negotiate as much as possible over the phone.

Andrew, I have heard elsewhere that there are often manufacturer incentives at RV shows to sell coaches making them a good deal. I appreciate your point that you need to do your homework by getting several prices on comparable coaches prior to buying an coach at an RV show. Great video.

Instead of dealers giving a thumbs down to your channel for a realistic review they should consider doing something different that will surely enhance their business, offer better quality repair service. As you mentioned, word gets out in the RV world through media their companies would gain momentum by being the best at what they do, service. Win, win, for all! happy consumers, happy dealership.

Thank you for all the great stuff! Please allow me to offer a suggestion. When buying an Rv from a dealer, check the reviews online! Once you do, consider the source and the circumstances. Some really bad reviews are from unrealistic people. Some are VERY valid. Try to navigate and determine for yourself what is Bs, and what is real. Some people have no skills to work on anything! RV's are exceptionally complicated vehicles to work on if you have limited mechanical ability. The best dealer can be limited on what they can do if you are stuck on the road! I'm not a dealer, or a salesman, just someone who is realistic. READ THE REVIEWS ABOUT ANY POTENTIAL DEALER YOU MAY PURCHASE FROM!!!!!!! Spend the time, do the research. You will save a lot of grief in the long run. The complexity of these machines is never ending! The higher end you go, the more difficult and expensive the repairs can be. Also, highly consider buying private party if you are capable of making slightly above average repairs yourself. You can save a fortune! Bottom line, if you dont have skills, you're gonna need money! Guys,, ladies,, you need to know your RV better than your partner! It will save you a lot of grief. Thank you again for all the great content.

Okay tomorrow is December 31st and my wife wants a new (2020) Mercedes GLC maybe GLE. So what kind of savings should I expect? 3% over invoice? At or below invoice? I would consider a 2021 but I expect the absolute best deal would be on a 2020.
@NDZ-jf8ur3 жыл бұрын
Well that totally blew up in my face, I went to the Mercedes dealer late afternoon on 31 December and they said they (basically) have no problem reaching their quotas every month so there's no incentive for them to come down on their prices or make deals. I fully expected to drive off in a new GLE too, what a disappointment.

All that lack of possible service availability leads me to think there is a good opportunity for a backyard guy or girl to start up their own business. They could start off with little things and over time and knowledge be fully equiped etc. I went to get my Winnebago serviced at the place I bought it and had it there at least four times for the same problem and in the end they said they could not figure it out and refused to go any further (the heating system). I am not one to give in quickly so I educated myself and fixed it and yes I told them I fixed it and NO not how I did it. I would only tell the if they PAID me for my service, lol. RVs are not that hard to work on in my opinion, mostly labour intensive. Food for thought. Thanks.

Me and my wife are getting ready retire and are considering full time RVing for at least a year or 2 to see the US. At the end of the 2 years we plan to settle down into a home. What is your best suggestion to buy a used coach for a low payment or a new coach with a higher payment hoping for better resale after the two years?
@RVingwithAndrewSteele4 жыл бұрын
Cash is King, you don't want to be paying interest on a large amount of a new coach. If you are able to buy the cash, new coach may be more beneficial but if you are paying interest on the money used would be better

I’m a former new car salesman. STOP telling our secrets!!! We have to make a living too. Whose side are you on!!! I got $200 incentive if I got a customer to to buy undercoating and paint protection. I got a 5% residual on every vehicle that I got the customer to lease. I got 5%-10% if I got them to use dealer refinancing options and if I sold 7-10 cars that month. I HATE customers that find the invoice price before coming in the dealership!!! What’s worse than that are the ones that find a friend that buys a vehicle at the wholesale price at the port when the vehicle comes off the ship. We love to advertise the stripped down vehicle price that’s in the back of the back of the back lot to lure the sucker...customer to the dealership and show them the one the showroom floor with the new car smell. I can still get you because I’ll take you on a test drive with the pretty fully loaded car and find out about your family and make you feel guilty for not wanting the best for your family. Also, I’ll get you with the undercoating and paint protection because we hire a very pretty girl with sexy looks to hypnotize you...and I’ll low ball you on the trade-in. The truth!! If you really need or want an extended warranty, buy an aftermarket warranty. Shop around and check their reviews. For some reason mant folks are under the impression it has to be purchased when the vehicle is purchased or you are out of luck. Not true!! Aftermarket warranty companies have no dealer hawking their coverage. You are the only one they have to please & if their service does not match their promise, you simply cancel rather than be stuck for 7 - 15 years paying interest or out of whatever up-front amount it cost you.
