I had the same problem viewing the credits on my Kingdom Hearts disc a few years ago except my game froze when the Genie covered Abu's eyes. I don't remember if the disc had a lot of scratches on it at the time. All I remember is beating the final boss and watching the credits one or two more times on that disc, only to have the game freeze IN THE EXACT SAME SPOT.

What happened to Pluto? Where did he go after the first part in Traverse Town after licking Sora? Was he in the ship the whole time? Or did they take him back to Disney Castle?

I think they left him on Treverse Town. I think the writers didn't have much to do with Pluto only in that part. I think, it was just a small disney easter egg thing to be introduced.
