I created a gmail account years ago, yet continued to use my yahoo account (which is my maiden name from 18 years ago ;) because I just couldn't figure out gmail or how to make it work for me. Very basic and straight to the point which is what I wanted. My only issue would be the size of the font as my mother is the one that I will have to go through this and it is small to read. I suppose we could adjust through the browser but since I am not with her I don't want here to learn yet another skill for now. Well done sir!

Good tutorial. I never did a deep dive into GMail before and didn't realize so many features were available. I was particularly interested in the"compose" info and for me, found that the most helpful. I think I am going to set up a dummy account to play around with. I've recently, in the last few days, started using Gmail Online. I've always used it via something like Outlook/Windows Live Mail and more recently, Windows Mail. I was always having issues with these programmes, so have decided to abandon/uninstall them in favour of the online option. I always used that to check emails away from home, but never really bothered with it, otherwise. But, with a bit of tinkering I'm really impressed as to how customizable and "clean" looking it is, now I've tweaked things. I'm particularly happy with the "unsend" option, which is a "default," although I've altered it to 30 seconds. The one thing I *can't* do is get notifications to work? I've tried the available options in "Settings" but nothing seems to happen. It's not a major issue, but if anyone has had the same experience and managed to solve it, it'd be much appreciated! 😉👍

Very helpful, for what it covered. Did Gmail ever get around to make deleting (trashing) messages easy? Today I have 6,322 unread messages, and thousands of “read” emails that I want to trash. I get 30+ daily. I need to sort message by date, then by sender or subject and then select a large group of them, and trash them. Or, if they cannot be trashed, at least label these masses of messages as junk or spam. Also, it seems messages can only be archived, not trashed. I watched your tutorial thinking you would cover this problem, that everyone I know has.

Super helpful. I am helping a friend who views his gmail on both an iPhone 13 and his PC. Can anyone direct me to a video that might help me understand how to use the 2 together productively? He says he deletes unwanted gmail on his iPhone, but they do not get trashed on his PC. Am guessing there is a setting (like I use in Outlook) that determines which device deletes from the server.

Excellent tutorial. One question, please. I am not sure how one saves an email forever ( or until one no longer needs and wishes to delete) if gmail gets rid of emails after thirty days or is it only getting rid of trash emails after thirty days? Thank you. Also, how does one delete a batch of emails at one time.

If the email is not in the trash folder or is not in the junk email folder, then gmail will not delete it automatically.
